“We had a lovely stay at the Hare’s Shack.”
The property is stunning and the pictures really don’t do it justice. The facilities are amazing and the cottage is very well designed. We loved the fireplace and the outdoor bath, and the kitchen was well kitted out.
We did find that a couple of things impacted our stay. The outdoor bath hadn’t been cleaned properly so there was a dirty ring around the top of the tub. I also found the fake plants in the bathroom very dusty and some had hair from previous guests in them. Otherwise the property was spotless so really it just felt like these had been overlooked rather than being indicative of a wider problem. There was some building work being done on a neighbouring property during our stay. Chris apologised for the impact of the building work on our view, which we didn’t mind at all. This kind of work does need to be carried out and the timing can’t be helped. However, having noisy building work and the noise of the workers’ radio on our last two mornings really affected the tranquility of the location and we wish that this had been made clearer to us. I felt that our privacy was also significantly impacted - I didn’t feel as comfortable using the outdoor space while the work was being done, and we felt quite overlooked. Again, I appreciate that the work is needed. But for the price of the stay and the fact that we chose this location for peace, quiet and privacy, we wish we’d been made aware in advance of our arrival.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend the property. It’s a gorgeous spot and has everything you need for a special break. We just felt we would have appreciated better communication about the building work in advance, as well as recognition of the impact this had on the way we were able to use the cottage during our stay.
