“Third time here, and just love this place
The views from the large well placed windows are just fab.”
Watching lots of birds and watching the bay fill up and empty each day you can't tire of.
Some great places to eat in Grange, the Estuary bistro being our favourite, but also great is Thyme, At Home cafe & Bistro, Hazelmere Cafe & Bakery and last but not least the promenade cafe.
Train station in Grange is great for getting to places easily, we went to Arnside, Lancaster and Ulverston.
Lovely shops in Grange, fantastic butchers and bakers, amazing fresh bakes in both. A fabulous handmade chocolate shop, they also have a great cafe.
The cottage itself is lovely, but, constructive cristisms for the people that manage this place, we felt standards are starting to drop and agree with some other reviews/feedback:-
Bedding - although perfectly clean it is looking a little worn, with a couple of small holes. (Bed really comfortable though).
Bathroom - there is an odd smell in the bathroom, think this may be down to the mould/black stuff starting to form around the outside of the shower door, and the seat in the shower. This really shouldn't be happening if it is cleaned properly, and treated as soon as it starts. Guests have to check out at 10am, and can't check in until 4pm, so there is plenty of time for a deep clean each week.
No toiletries provided other than hand-wash, I'm afraid these days it is expected than showergel and mostriser at the very least is provided, especially at over £100 per night, standard practice now for good quality cottages. There were two toilet rolls though.
Welcome pack - no welcome pack, not even a small milk. Again, pretty standard practice now with this standard of cottage (and price), it would be a nice personal touch to have a small welcome pack.
There is a large garden umbrella, which is useful in the lovely suntrap front overlooking the bay, however, no base, so we had to cobble something together and attached it to the fence, which did work, but not ideal.
Settee - we think it is comfortable, but agree with a previous review that there are marks on it that would come off I think with a good clean.
All above said, we do still love this place, it would get a 5 out of 5 plus, if the above were addressed.
It is a great romantic couples retreat, so quiet and relaxing, no noisy neighbours. Smart TVs, so you can watch your Netflix/Prime/ITVx etc whilst chilling in the evenings.
I’m really really sorry to hear this. Especially as a very valued return guest. I have spoken to the usually excellent cleaners. I will purchase a brolly stand (not sure where the other went) and thank you again for bringing g this to our attention.
