  • “A very well equipped and comfortable holiday cottage which compensated for some very wet weather during the week.”

The property is situated on an elevated position above Ambleside giving good views of the nearby fells but with easy access to the town.

After undergoing substantial refurbishment Swirl How is now a perfect base for a Lake District holiday. Its facilities, comfort and views coupled with an excellent location within an easy downhill walk to the amenities of Ambleside mean that it is ideal for families and couples alike. With 180 degree panoramic views over Ambleside and the surrounding fells the views from this property really do take some beating. Located in a quiet residential area of Ambleside there are numerous walks from the door including Jenkins Crag and Wansfell. In the evening Ambleside offers a good selection of places to eat from traditional pubs to vegetarian and Thai restaurants as well as a multi-screen cinema. Accommodation: One small step takes you through the front door and into the hallway. The lounge (flat screen TV, DVD, living-flame gas fire and wi-fi) has full-length double patio doors, which open out on to the patio dining area to take full advantage of the beautiful views. The dining area, just off the lounge, has an open archway through into the kitchen making the property feel very sociable whether you are eating inside or out. There are three bedrooms, one with king-size bed, one with double bed and a third bedroom, which can be used as a single or a twin (single with second hideaway bed- please let us know if this is required ). All have fitted carpets, built-in wardrobes and co-ordinating curtains and fabrics. There are two bathrooms, one is a fully tiled shower room (shower, basin and wc), the second is also fully tiled (bath, separate shower, basin and wc). Swirl How's furnishings are comfortable and up to date throughout with neutral coloured paints and carpets and splashes of colour in its co-ordinating fabrics. With double-glazing and gas central heating this property is sure to be a cosy, holiday retreat in any season. Outside: Patio doors from lounge lead on to the large enclosed sunny patio, with superb 180 degree panoramic views over the village of Ambleside itself, onto the fells of Loughrigg, Todd Crag and the mountains beyond. About the location

AMBLESIDE

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
