“Bandol is a very special property, and certainly the best we have stayed in.”

Positioned just above the lovely village of Braithwaite the views are stunning from every room and the location provided a peaceful stay. The owner clearly cares passionately about providing the perfect home from home with everything you need and more. Bandol was comfortable, clean and cosy. I can't recommend this property highly enough. We will definitely return.

“Bandol is the best cottage we have stayed in.”

It is very comfortable and is extremely well equipped. The accommodation is very spacious allowing 8 guests to have there own space. The owner has thought of every detail to ensure the holiday is a delight from bird feeders to blackout blinds and comfortable settes and chairs . Bandol is in a great location .The views towards Skiddaw are superb and it is in the ideal location for walking in a variety of directions from the door .

“We were very pleased with the accommodation and it was an excellent location with good facilities and beautiful views.”

The only negative comment we could make was that the master bedroom had not been hoovered as there was quite a lot of long loose hair on the carpet. Also, it would be a good idea to be supplied with two keys for large parties who may be splitting off and doing their own things for the day. Other than, we would certainly use the property again if possible for another large family stay.

We have now bought a new Shark hoover which is so much better than the previous hoover. I have also checked that there are two keys which, as you say, is helpful if there are large parties. “Years since we last visited Lakes, so delighted with our choice of holiday home.”

Comfortable, spacious and very well equipped. View of Skiddaw across valley from living room is spectacular! Peaceful and relaxing spot. Excellent base for seeing this northern part of Lakes - lovely walks at Derwentwater, Buttermere and Rydal. Pencil Museum in Keswick is genuinely fascinating. Huge thanks to owner - our first trip since September was wonderful and we'll definitely be returning.

The property

We are sure that our guests will love Bandol - a detached and spacious single storey property which has been completely refurbished. The property is situated on the edge of Braithwaite Village being just a short walk down the hill to the local shop and a couple of good pubs. The setting is ideal with excellent views over the village towards Keswick, Skiddaw and surrounding fells. Walks from the door take in some of the high tops including Grasmoor and Grisedale Pike whilst you can enjoy a more gentle ramble along nearby winding country lanes. Cruises and 'lake hopping' boat services on Derwentwater make the most of the fantastic Keswick area. Accommodation: Entrance up several steps into porch/utility area with plenty of room for coats and boots. A well equipped breakfast kitchen in a cream painted style with window looking out on to the back patio and fells beyond. Spacious L shaped living/dining room (flat screen TV, DVD, Sonos, Wi-Fi and log burner) with large picture window with views towards Skiddaw and surrounding fells. There are four bedrooms; 2 with king size beds, one of which has an en-suite with p-shaped bath with shower over, basin and wc and two twin rooms. Separate shower room with large shower cubicle, basin and wc. Additional separate wc. Comfortably furnished and decorated to a high standard, Bandol is a great house for a family holiday or a number of couples wanting to get together at any time of the year, with central heating and hot water on demand. Outside: Large gardens stretching all the way round the house and the field surrounding and belonging to the property can also be carefully utilised although usually grazed by sheep. Secure storage for bikes etc in the garage. Coledale Inn 2 mins walk, shop and further pubs in Braithwaite 10 mins walk. Note: £200 returnable good housekeeping deposit payable per week.

Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake. Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and Keswick with its wide range of attractions, are also within easy reach.
