The property

Resting in a private courtyard within the attractive old market town of Sedbergh, sits this delightful abode, Lavender Cottage. Presented to a charming standard, this homely abode is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a country escape, with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales. After a day of fell walking, look forward to kicking off your walking boots and retiring to the lounge, appointed with a sofa in front of the Smart TV and woodburning stove, providing an ideal setup for movie nights. Carry the conversation into the kitchen, where the house chef can dust off those cooking books and prepare a hearty dish, whilst the rest of the group lay the dining table with crockery and cutlery. On warm evenings, step outside and relish in the enclosed patio, relaxing on the furniture and dreaming about the adventures to come. As the night grows darker, take off upstairs and find comfort in the bedrooms, each neutrally presented and equipped with ample storage. The master houses a king-size with zip/link beds, along with an en-suite shower room, whilst there is also a twin and bunk room, so there’s plenty of options. Lavender Cottage benefits from a central location in Sedbergh, so you have a choice of many restaurants and pubs right on your doorstep, ideal for those nights when you don’t feel like cooking. After a tasty pub lunch, why not enjoy a romantic stroll along the River Rawthey and soak up all the lush surrounding scenery? Just a short drive away you will find the town of Kendal, boasting the fascinating ruins of its former remarkable 12th-century castle. Take advantage of your location within the National Park by planning your schedule around natural hotspots like Ingleborough Cave and White Scar Cave, both of which offer guided tours inside the caves, or consider taking your own route to Whernside and its peak, which offers views of the county. With all this, plus the Lake District in easy reach, enjoy a fantastic escape to Lavender Cottage.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
