Whinlatter Forest is also close by and offers plenty of walking and mountain bike trails for all abilities. Keen historians will love visiting the amazing ruins of Lowther Castle & Gardens, a medieval home to the Earls of Lonsdale, as well as Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens, a 14th century country house with extensive grounds to explore.
The busting town of Penrith is a 5 minute drive away and offers a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as Penrith Castle and Castle Park, perfect for a picnic on a summer's day. The town of Keswick, home to an award-winning market and a fantastic array of shops, ranging from craft bakeries, a butchers and fresh, local produce is also easily accessible.
