The property

Huntingstile Lodge is an exquisite Victorian detached gentleman's home with five bedrooms, located on the outskirts of Grasmere in Cumbria. Offering breath-taking views of Grasmere Lake and the surrounding mountains, convenient access to scenic walking trails, and a luxurious interior with everything a large family or group of 10 may need for a relaxing holiday, this home is a must-see. The property has mature grounds and off-road parking for five automobiles. Relax with loved ones on the plush leather sofas in front of the electric fire as your favourite show plays out on the Smart TV in the sitting room, part of the open-plan living area where you will find a fully-equipped kitchen for rustling up family favourites that can be enjoyed at the dining table for 10 or alfresco out in the rear garden with a backdrop of incomparable views. A second electric fireplace can be found in the reading nook, making it the perfect place to relax with a good book. Conveniently located on the ground floor, the utility/cloakroom is the finishing touch. A super-king bedroom with its own balcony, picture window highlighting the magnificent views, and contemporary en suite bathroom awaits you on the first floor, along with two double bedrooms, each with access to a well-appointed bathroom. Upstairs, you'll find two more bedrooms: a double and a twin, both of which share a cloakroom. Treat your loved ones to a dinner at one of the many restaurants in the village centre, such as The Jumble Room, Potting Shed Café, Dove Bistro And Signature, the Michelin-starred Forest Side, local ales at Grasmere Brewery, or the National Trust site of Allenbank, the poet William Wordsworth's former home. Visit the scenic man-made Rydal Cave for a picturesque hike on your way to Ambleside, where you may explore the Armitt Library & Museum Centre or the ruins of a Roman fort dating back to the second century or take a trip up to the enchanting Stock Ghyll Force. Windermere is a popular destination due to its proximity to Lake Windermere and the variety of water activities available there, as well as the incomparable views of the Langdale Pikes from Orrest Head and Queen Adelaide's Hill, the chance to relive Beatrix Potter's adventures at the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, and delicious seafood at Hooked. Huntingstile Lodge provides the perfect, luxury setting for a getaway with loved ones.

About the location

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
