Glyn and his wife were perfect hosts and made us very welcome - the welcome goodies were greatly appreciated. The apartment was very modern, clean, quiet and a great base for exploring the Lake District. The perfect home from home with everything you need. Lovely to sit on the balcony relaxing while watching the river at the back of the property. Nice little surprise was watching the steam train pass the window each morning. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

The apartment was well maintained and had everything we needed. Location was good-easy to get to Coniston and south Windermere. We also visited the South Lakes zoo and aquarium. The owner gave us lots of details access instructions and lots of local recommendations, which were great. The welcome treat box was also very gratefully received and a wonderful added bonus when we arrived. Can’t recommend highly enough.

The apartment was child friendly too allowing my 5 and 2 year old enough room for them to do their own thing. A very central location which made it easy to visit the more popular attractions. The apartment is nicely decorated, very well equipped and great welcome pack with lots of tasty treats. Good location as the Haverthwaite steam railway is within walking distance and you can then visit Lakeside, Bowness on Windermere & Ambelside via boat. A lovely day out! Many more places to visit by car within 20-30 minutes including Coniston Water, Cartmel and Windermere.

11 Ironworks. Fantastic weather, but also a lovely property, with marvellous views. Lots of wildlife to be seen, and excellent walks. Owners had really thought of everything, very thoughtful welcome pack. Really appreciated both balconies, in the hot weather - there was always one of them in the shade! Will definitely return!

Roger “This visit was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and No 11 Ironworks was recommended to us by our neighbors who had stayed there earlier in the year.”
On the day of arrival the owner intimated to us that the apartment would be ready for checking in earlier than the stipulated 4 p.m. and we agreed that in that eventuality he would let me know when. Having not had any response from him we then checked in at 4pm as per the booking conditions. We were very disappointed to find the following; a) There was no welcoming pack of any description (despite our neighbor and other feedback on Sykes Cottages website saying there would be one) b) No toiletries at all despite Sykes Cottages advertising Elemis toiletries c) No pot towels at all d) The curtain pull had fallen out of the curtain rings and lay on the door sill. e) The bins in all the rooms had not been emptied from previous guests. The next morning (day of our anniversary) we had to travel to Booths in Ulverston to get basic toiletries, pot towels, milk, tea bags etc. etc. All items that we would have expected to be in place. The owner contacted me after 4 pm on the day of arrival to say it was okay to check in which I thought was strange as normal check in time was 4 pm. anyway! I mentioned the above complaints and he sent me a £25 voucher as a contribution towards a meal at the Swan Hotel. I accepted the gesture but it meant that we had to eat at an establishment which we would not have ordinarily chosen and after the meal it is definitely not an establishment we would eat at again. No offer of replenishing the basic toiletries or even repairing the curtain pull was made or occurred during our stay of three nights. I have sent the same feedback to the owner but as of today I have not had the courtesy of a reply or acknowledgement. At the end of our stay we got a message from Sykes Cottages asking us to leave the apartment in the same condition as we found it! I would like to think we left it in a far better condition than that!! On the positive side the apartment was in a good location and fitted out well and despite the setbacks above we had a nice time.

The balcony offered a sunny, sheltered spot for breakfast and had beautiful riverside views. Very clean and quiet. A super base for exploring. Visited Fell Foot park, Hawkshead, Ambleside, Wray Castle, Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Arnside (by train), and the dock museum in Barrow-in-Furness. Fabulous coastline to explore. The Lake District really doesn’t need too much of an introduction as its beauty speaks for itself. No Eleven @ The Ironworks took us by surprise when we arrived, it felt so welcoming and we immediately felt at home. All of the modern interior was well equipped with everything we needed and more! We particularly liked the stunning views of the river from the balcony which was a perfect spot to sit and enjoy a coffee after a busy day exploring. Glyn and Claire certainly have an eye for detail, we lived the interior decor and the layout of the apartment. It felt very spacious but also cosy with the additional touch of Christmas decorations which made our stay very festive and one we will certainly remember. They provided clear details for key collection prior to our arrival and were kind enough to provide some local recommendations. This is a property we will definitely be returning to in the future!

Mark “A fantastic location in the south lakes, so convenient for Grange Over Sands which is a wonderful and rather uniquely beautiful “seaside” town.”
The owner’s welcome gift was very generous and delicious. We particularly enjoyed the balconies which capture both morning and the blazing afternoon sun. We would definitely recommend to couples after a very comfortable apartment in a very beautiful part of Cumbria.

Ronald “11ironworks is a lovely place in a beautiful area, the apartment is stunning and everything is just pure quality, plenty to do locally but be prepared to travel.”
There is a nearby pub but was shut the day we went however we were told it was open the next day. All in all a great place to stay thank you Gylnn and Claire we will be back.

Home from Home comforts, slept like a log, in extremely comfortable beds. (Only suggestion King duvet on a double bed) Lovely to meet the owners, the welcome gifts was an appreciated touch. Will definitely recommend and return. Slight heating and hot water issues, but quickly resolved.

There were emails sent prior outlining key collection, however at 7pm on the day of arrival another email was recieved with a picture of the specific lockbox we were supposed to use to get the key. We had already arrived and contacted several people to try and gain access to the flat at that point. So yeah, getting that last email earlier would have been more helpful.
