“Very convenient situation in Ambleside with parking.”

Whilst the cottage has almost everything you might need it is small and compact and therefore the double bedroom in particular is cramped for two people. Also no space for a washer or dishwasher which would be useful. We had a problem with the toilet lid which wouldn’t stay up whilst the toilet was being used, which will hopefully be put right. Although we generally enjoyed our stay, we wouldn’t return to Cringol Cottage.

Cringol Cottage is a character cottage in a convenient location with parking and is loved by the majority of our guests that stay. Our first time at Cringol Cottage absolutely superb great location Only one complaint I do wish people wouldn't cook curry etc the people before must have done and it took about four days to get rid of the smell

“Cringol Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage with everything you need for a good holiday.”

It’s two minutes walk from the centre of the village and has a very handy parking spot. We very much enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay there again.

“A very comfortable and economic holiday.”

The cottage is in an ideal position, just minutes from shops, restaurants, pubs and buses. The off street parking is a real bonus. The water heater is on Off-peak tariff and so switches on in the early hours. Because the heater is next to the bedrooms it is very noisy during the night. We had to switch it off at bedtime and put the booster on in the morning. This may be more expensive for the owner.

Making it difficult for some too hang garments. Borrowed ordinary hangers from the other room.these hangers have been present for a number of years.

Cottage is comfortable, well equipped and has own parking place which is a plus in a busy location. This is our seasons time staying in Cringol and would definitely recommend.

The property

A comfortable Lakeland stone-built cottage in a location that makes it a very popular holiday home at any time of year. The cottage is situated in a neat courtyard a few minutes level walk from the centre of Ambleside and is a short stroll from Lake Windermere. The cottage is well presented with quality furnishings and equipment and is maintained to a high standard. Accommodation: Front door entrance into heated inner porch with hanging/drying space for your walking gear. Inner door to open plan style, comfortably furnished sitting/dining room (TV with Freeview, living flame electric fire, DVD and CD with a selection of DVDs and CDs), with fitted kitchen area at one end. Stairs to the first floor where there are two bedrooms - one double and one single. Room for a cot if the single room is not in use. Bathroom has bath with electric shower over, basin and wc. The cottage is double-glazed and has fitted carpets throughout. Storage heaters with convection facility and hot water with hot water boost.The cottage is cosy throughout the year. Outside: There is parking in the courtyard for one car and a small seating area with garden bench. Bus stops close by. Ambleside centre a third of a mile, and lake half a mile.

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
