“Another week spent at North Lodge which did not disappoint.”

Comfortable and well equipped with local services a short distance away. Icing on the cake was the regular visits by red squirrels.

So misleading / fraudulent. Worst holiday stay ever - had to find somewhere else it was so bad. Very bad at handling complaint about the property.

The property

North Lodge is one of our most popular cottages and offers comfortable accommodation for four in two en-suite bedrooms. This delightful detached Victorian lodge is in a rural location, set back from the Ambleside to Keswick road under Butter Crags, on the outskirts of Grasmere. There are good views and a pleasant garden commented on by many visitors, and delightful footpath walks right from the door. Grasmere village centre is easily reached on foot by local footpaths, and has good shopping and places to eat, gift shops and galleries. Ambleside is three miles away. Accommodation: A porch has been added to the front door leading to a comfortable beamed sitting room with green slate fireplace (open fire, TV, DVD, video, CD/radio), a door leads to the kitchen/dining room. On the first floor there are two bedrooms - a double bedded room with en-suite bath, basin and wc and a twin with en-suite shower, basin and wc. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with electric night storage and convector heating and retains character features including beams, stonework and interesting roof lines. Double glazing throughout. Outside: As well as the garden with level seating area there is dedicated parking behind the cottage for two cars. Pub (The Swan hotel) a third of a mile, Grasmere centre approx three quarters of a mile. Note: One dog accepted without charge.

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
