The property

Situated in the bustling town of Windermere, Cumbria and surrounded by the towering peaks of the Lake District National Park lies Silverthwaite, a charming semi-detached stone-built cottage. Offering off-road parking while being close to amenities, and a traditional décor, this delightful cottage is ideal for two couples or a small family looking to explore the wonderfully diverse terrains of the Lakes. As you arrive at the property, enter the sitting room and sink into the comfy sofas with your loved ones and flicking on the Smart TV to watch a film. Moving through the property, the dining area is decorated in neutral tones and wooden furnishings adding to the character of the property, and provides a space for the group to gather and discuss the day's activities as you enjoy a fresh homecooked meal. Making your way to the amply-equipped kitchen, the cottage is home to all the appliances you need to rustle up delicious meals for the group, including an electric oven and hob and an all-important dishwasher, as well as a handy washing machine and tumble dryer so you can freshen up your clothes after your adventuresome days. When the night grows darker and it is time to rest your head, climb the stairs to the first floor, where you will find a king-size bedroom, this room benefits from an en-suite shower room, and there is a separate super king-size bedroom which has the flexibility of being made as a twin on request. Each bedroom has been thoughtfully decorated in a light and airy décor and is complete with hanging space and wooden furnishings, tying in the traditional feel throughout the property, as well as pretty views across the town. Relax and unwind in the bubble bath with a good book; the family bathroom is home to a bath, a shower over, a basin and a WC. Take your dining experience outside to the patio and savour a glass of wine in the last of the summer sun as you gaze out over the surrounding cottages and over to the distant hills. Treat yourself to a meal out one evening in one of the nearby restaurants such as Hooked, which offers fresh seafood, or one of many cuisines offered in the town centre. Windermere has plenty of attractions to keep you busy throughout your stay including the Windermere Jetty Museum, which offers an insight into the boating history of the Lake District. For days out while at the cottage, venture out to Wray Castle, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area renowned for its magnificent Gothic Revival castle, well-kept grounds, and spectacular views across the surrounding peaks. Spend a day in the nearby town of Ambleside which is home to plenty of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants to fuel your day; from here, you can climb Loughrigg Fell, and the adventurous members of the group may also want to visit Rydal Cave on the northside of the route, where you can explore the cave and its shallow lake of small fish. The area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and adventurers alike, offering a plethora of routes around the lakes and through woodlands such as the Grizedale Forest, as well as ample watersport opportunities, perfect for all ages. The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
