What better way to get away from it all than to spend your holiday on a traditional lakeland farm in a picturesque rural setting? Lakeland farms are famous for local herdwick sheep, and lambs in spring and some rare breeds of cattle can also be spotted. You will find an array of native wildlife and birds including deer and red squirrels. Most lakeland farms are full of character and have long histories - Yew Tree Farm was once owned by Beatrix Potter and has appeared in the film of Miss Potter !

This was our third visit to this house and frankly we would be unlikely to want to stay anywhere else in the area. Dunnabeck's location is second to none- you can do all the local sights ( Wordsworth) and lots of walks from the house around Grasmere and Rydal and then you are also perfectly positioned to drive out in all directions to other things- eg this time we went to Levens, Hampsfell and Cartmel, Wray, Buttermere, Castlerrig and Aira Force.Mr and Mrs Richards
This was the third time we stayed at Low Melbecks Barn and it's still as wonderful and immaculate as the first time round 6 years ago. A lovely welcome from the owners with homemade cake, wine, tea/coffee and other goodies. This place is paradise and we cannot wait to go back.Mrs Hepworth
