Stunning Lakeside property included in the Times' Top 100 Coolest Holiday Cottages. Also featured in the Sunday Times article 'The most beautiful view in all England'
On the shimmering beautiful shores of Ullswater, not many have this vast and amazing lake frontage as their own back garden. If you have been dreaming of a holiday in a picturesque character cottage right on the shores of this famous water, then look no further than Wall Holm Cottage. Sit and read the apt story Swallows and Amazons as you can re enact the drama and watch it unfold right in front of your eyes. Indeed this has to be one of the finest locations on the shores of Ullswater and the views alone will take your breath away. From the moment you arrive you will be captured by a feeling of peace and tranquillity hard to find in our present busy world and yet there is so much to do in the immediate area you will be hard pushed to fit it all in during your stay. Enjoy the large lake frontage, garden, lakeside decking and jetty.
Dating from around 1750 the cottage was once lived in by the servants of Glenridding Hall and has been lovingly restored and renovated to a high standard with just the right amount of colour and style creating a real home-from-home much loved by its caring owners.
This is a place to stay and relax, take in the views and unwind. There are fine walks for all members of the party with high mountain tops and valley rambles 'from the door'. Lake cruises and boat hire start just along the road at the other end of the village. Nearby pubs and tea shops take care of the eating-out and there are enough shops for daily needs. One of the best days out can be enjoyed by taking a steamer cruise to Howtown with the beautiful walk back along the eastern side of the lake along part of the Ullswater Way.
Accommodation: On the ground floor you will find a delightful dining room (log burner) with double doors opening into the cosy sitting room (open fire, TV, DVD). Double doors open onto the patio and garden. Stylish kitchen with central island, a host of storage cupboards, TV, log burner and back door to garden. Useful cloakroom with hanging space for outdoor gear, basin and wc.
Upstairs you will find three charming bedrooms - a king sized double with en-suite (shower, basin and wc), a further double room and a twin. Family bathroom (bath with shower over, basin and wc).
Furnishings are stylish and comfortable in co-ordinating colours with carpets or traditional wooden floors in all bedrooms and carpeted stairs, and hard wood or slate flag flooring throughout downstairs. All main rooms (except the double bedroom) have lake views.
Outside: Parking for two cars. The stunning lake shore garden runs right down to the water's edge barely twenty yards from the backdoor (It goes without saying that young children need supervision). Boat owners will love the jetty - perfect for mooring a sailing dinghy or canoes. Garden features include a lakeside barbecue on a large decking area with amazing views towards Wall Holm Island and Place Fell.
