Crag Hill Cottage

Skelwith Bridge, Langdale Valleys

Ref: 2044

  • Sleeps: 4
  • Changeover: Friday

This much loved cottage lies in an enviable setting at Skelwith Bridge with its own large gardens down to the River Brathay and where you have your own river frontage and inclusive fishing rights. With wonderful walks to be enjoyed from the door you can explore the area to your heart's content either on foot or bike -  the Cumbria Way passes about a hundred yards from the cottage, there are paths onto Loughrigg Fell and Silver How, or take the walk from the cottage past Skelwith Force up the river to Elterwater. The ever popular Chesters by the River is perfect for scrumptious lunches and afternoon teas and with the famous Drunken Duck Inn just a few minutes' drive away you can dine out in style or enjoy cosy bar meals at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel (300yds from the cottage).

Accommodation: Park in the gated driveway and enter the cottage up a few steps at the back door into the boot room /utility where you can leave all your outdoor gear. Also separate drying room outside for wet gear.  The newly fitted kitchen has all you need for a self-catering holiday. A wide opening leads straight through past the family sized dining table and on into the cosy sitting area to the front of the cottage (log burner, wide screen TV, Wi-fi, XBOX 360). The comfortable conservatory is just off the lounge - a perfect spot for quiet relaxation or that early evening glass of wine. Door to the rear patio.

An inner hall of the lounge leads to the two bedrooms (a super king-zip link which can be a twin if ordered in advance, and a further king double room. A well-appointed family bathroom has bath with power shower over, basin and wc.)

Crag Hill Cottage is cosy and warm in all seasons, comfortably furnished and sure to please. There are good views from most windows.

Outside: The gardens a real feature with two separate places to eat out of doors, river access and plenty of mature trees and shrubs. Safe bike storage for bikes and canoes.  Ample parking in the gated drive for about three cars. Walk to cafe and pub at Skelwith Bridge.  Ambleside 2 miles.

Property Reviews

Lovely cottage would love to go back there.Mr Hudson
First class Cottage in an ideal location.Mr Edwards
First time at Crag Hill and absolutely delighted with everything - the immaculate, extremely tasteful accommodation and the wonderfully peaceful and rural location, so close to the facilities of Ambleside yet very much in the heart of the countryside . All the little touches very much appreciated. We hope to return in the near future.Ken & Lisa
This is either the fourth or fifth time returning to Crag Hill Cottage and it never disappoints! Perfect cottage, perfect location. Looking forward to returning next year. Thank you xTrudy, Tim Ella & Oliver
What a lovely cottage in wonderful surroundings, certainly the best "Heart of the Lakes" cottage we have stayed in. Great dog walks from the door and "Chesters cakes" just round the corner!! Already booked for another week at Crag Hill Cottage in 2017.Judy & Ian & Jessie
Our second visit to this very comfortable cottage in its beautiful setting. Great walks from the door, and loved watching the birds from the conservatory and eating outdoors. "ran the rapids & survived!"Paul & Alison & Matt Wallace
