As we work through how the staff at Heart of the Lakes - Lake District Cottages explore the Lake District National Park. This month we take a look at how reservations team member Sam Walton would explore this beautiful area.
Being a bit of a foodie, I’d have to say it’s the choice and quality of places to eat and drink, from a full-on celebration dinner to a quick cake and coffee there are so many great places to go.
I would drive to Glenridding, take the boat up to Pooley Bridge (where I’d pop in somewhere for lunch!) then boat halfway back, get off at How Town and walk the rest of the way along Ullswater.
This is a tough one, its hard to narrow it down, if pushed I’d say Grizedale Forest, with a great choice bike trails, walking trails, an adventure playground for the kids, and of course, a great café.
Messing about on the water should be a must on any itinerary. It’s a great way to see the scenery and relax whether it is a yacht on Windermere or a rowing boat on Bassenthwaite Lake there is no better way to while away the time.
From the top of a fell! You can’t beat the feeling of reaching the top and just soaking up the views.
