“We were extremely disappointed with Longmire Yeat Cottage.”
Although the cottage had stunning views, was attractive and clean with all the amenities one would require for a weeks stay, however, it was the furnishings that were, to say the least appalling. As a result my wife and I (both in our late 70s) had no alternative because of the lack of comfort, to vacate the cottage early, even after looking forward to our holiday for so long.
The following are the three primary areas of complaint:
1. Kitchen table extremely unhygienic - cracks in the table top contained food debri and mould. The table had been raised but was still to low for me to get my knees under.
2. The sofa in the sitting room was extremely uncomfortable to the point that it caused myself and my wife back and neck ache if we sat in it for more than about 30 minutes. This left only the other two chairs in the room to sit on if we wanted to watch TV and they were neither really comfortable. One was a low back bucket chair, the other, a very small armed chair.
3. The main bed room was described to have a super king bed (but was stated, "could be used as two separate singles") It was made up as a super king but unfortunately the two single mattresses were of different makes therefore slightly different heights, making sleeping close together difficult/impossible and uncomfortable. The three bedrooms were limited to just one small wardrobe.
The final irritation was the TV, it was on a Sky Box but was limited to about 5/6 channels. If any of the other channels were selected, a notice came on the screen "Insert sky card"
The above issues have previously all been noted in the visitors book by other visitors but no corrective action has been taken.
My wife and I feel that we were mislead by Sykes and the marketing used to describe the cottage and based on reality Longmire Yeat Cottage is grossly over priced.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered at the cottage, unfortunately we weren't aware of any of these problems during your stay as we could have tried to resolve them to make your stay more comfortable. However, the owner has taken onboard all your comments and we can assure guests that there is now a new kitchen table along with a new leather sofa (living room images) installation of a Smart TV with access to Netflix, Amazon prime, iplayer plus other channels for guests to enjoy. Unfortunately we havent had any complaints about the ziplink bed but it has been noted.
