The property

In a picturesque woodland setting just above Skelwith Bridge about three miles west of Ambleside in the approaches to the Great Langdale Valley, the apartments at Neaum Crag are well-placed for walking and rambling in some of Lakeland's most picturesque scenery. There are fine views from the summit of Neaum Crag itself which is easily climbed via a footpath through the grounds and a short walk will bring you to the pretty Loughrigg Tarn and the paths up to Loughrigg - one of central Lakeland's most popular walks. This is a peaceful location well away from passing traffic - there is a wealth of bird life in the area and you may often be able to see deer and red squirrels in the woodlands around. There is an onsite seasonal clubhouse ( March - mid November ) a Scandinavian style pool complex houses a sauna, small swimming pool and jacuzzi, table tennis table, recreation area and telephone. Accommodation: The apartment is all on ground level. Front door into entrance hall with hanging space for your walking gear. Door through to open style living/dining room with kitchen area at one end (flat screen TV with digital channels, video, DVD, mini hi-fi). Patio doors to the garden. There are two bedrooms - a double which also overlooks the gardens and has a door to the patio. The second bedroom is a twin. Bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and wc. Electric heating throughout plus additional electric fire in the lounge keeps the property cosy for out of season lets. Fitted carpets throughout. The apartment is comfortable and well-equipped with lots of personal touches, games, maps and guide books for your use. Outside: Patio garden area with table and chairs provided - a lovely place to relax on warmer days with plenty of interest for bird watchers if you put out some nuts. Named parking for two cars. Shared open wooded grounds with small tarn. Good local pub at Skelwith Bridge which is a short walk down the hill. Nearest shop Chapel Stile 2 miles. Ambleside 3 miles. Note: Sorry no high chair.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
