    “A wonderful cottage.”

    We loved the kitchen and the living space and the decor. The location was superb with parking and easy access to the Langdales/Ambleside and Grasmere. Our only niggle was the mattress in the front main bedroom was not comfortable and in our opinion needs replacing.

    Thank you for your important feedback. It has been replaced. Brand new, natural fibre ortho mattress on that bed now. All mattresses in the property are now new. Thank you Property Owner

The property

This charming Lakeland stone built cottage is one of a short terrace of four in a picture postcard setting in the Langdale Valley overlooking the River Brathay in the hamlet of Skelwith Bridge. This is a perfect spot for relaxing in the true heart of the Lake District and we are sure you will enjoy the fine walking that can be done from the door. The owners have carefully restored the cottage whilst retaining a beautiful mix of character with all modern facilities, subtle colour schemes and comfortable furnishings. We are sure this will be a very popular holiday venue in any season of the year. Accommodation: Entrance by the back door into the newly fitted kitchen and then through into the stylish open plan sitting/dining room with its cosy log burner (TV, DVD, iPod docking station, Wi-Fi, radio). The cottage is on three floors with two double bedrooms on the first floor together with the family bathroom (shower over bath and basin). Separate wc. At the top of the cottage you will find a charming spacious twin room with sloping roof lines. The cottage has underfloor and electric heating downstairs and electric heating upstairs. Slate floors downstairs and stripped floorboards with rugs, carpets elsewhere. Outside: There is a charming cottage garden overlooking the river with room to eat out of doors to the front. Rear garden with parking for two cars behind the cottage. Secure bike store. A few seconds stroll to Chesters, a stylish cafe and shop, on the river bank and also to The Skelwith Bridge Hotel for eating out. Elterwater and Britannia Inn 2 miles. Ambleside 2 and half miles.This is a perfect place from which to head off up the fells, round tarns and lakes, or by river banks. Simply pack your picnic and head out of the door!

A delightful, rural village nestled right in the heart of the beautiful Lake District National Park. Chapel Stile is an excellent hidden gem, set at the bottom of a stunning valley, flanked on one side by the River Brathay, surrounded by incredible scenery and filled with wonderful slate and stone buildings. The village offers a traditional church from the mid 1800's as well as a café, a pub and a village shop that has stood for well over 100 years. Chapel Stile is a great base for exploring this National Park, with easy access to a number of sights and fells worth visiting. You must go to the lovely neighbouring village of Elterwater and stand on the Skelwith Bridge and simply take in the views. Nearby are the fantastic Lake District towns of Ambleside and Kendal are withing a short driving distance, offering excellent views, buildings and so much to do. For you outdoors people, make sure you visit Bowness-on-Windermere, with its incredible lake activities and so much to do; it's perfect for families.
