“Outside lights need bulbs .”

It was difficult to see the front step in the evening and also back steps. The television is very small for a family of six to watch. Other than that great location and very clean property

“The cottage is spacious, well equipped and in a brilliant location.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! I would echo what previous reviews said about the damp in the basement rooms, but this is a Lakeland stone cottage so it’s to be expected. This was our first ever holiday with a dog so I don’t know if it’s usual but there was a fair amount of dog hair around, especially on the sofas. All in all we had a great week!

“A really lovely cottage, fantastic location great for walking into Bowness Village.”

So wasy to get to so many places by car or walking. Sufficient parking outside. Cottage is spacious we had 6 easily stay. Really functional with everything you need, clean & tidy. Dishwasher, washing machine etc. Two bedrooms upstairs & two in the basement, loved the open plan living area. Small garden at front & back with shared clothes line. Brilliant. Just one thing cottage could do with clothes airer!!! My only comment would be sofa is VERY VERY low & as its separate pieces had to keep pushing back together. Also could smell the ‘damp’ in the twin room in basement, could see there was a humidifier in room but we decided after a few days not to use the room. Overall a LOVELY cottage would recommend & we would stay again.

Number Twenty Seven is a Victorian terrace offering quality accommodation located just a minutes walk from the heart of the vibrant villages of Bowness-On-Windermere and Windermere. This welcoming cottage is ideal for friends and family. The living space offers a great open plan layout with a welcoming sitting area, with a cosy log burner, a family dining table and a kitchen. Choose from one of two bright and airy bedrooms. To the front of the cottage there is patio with seating ideal for a spot of sun on a summer's afternoon and evening. Number Twenty Seven is in easy walk of the Lake Windermere and is an ideal base from which to explore the whole of the Lake District. The cottage is situated just a short walk from Biskey Howe which offers stunning views across Lake Windermere and the surrounding area and is a perfect place to enjoy the sunsets across the lake in an evening. The front door opens to the open plan living / dining room and kitchen. A comfortable corner sofa is arranged around the cosy log burning stove and the family dining table is ideal for family breakfasts or social dinners with friends. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need and includes an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and washing machine. A back door opens onto the rear courtyard. The bedrooms are arranged with two double bedrooms, complemented by a family bathroom with bath with shower over, twin basins and wc on the first floor and then on the lower ground floor offering shower room with shower cubicle, basin and wc. Location On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with a wealth to explore and enjoy. Stroll to the lake shore to hire a row boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car. There are numerous excellent restaurants in Bowness village, all within walking distance of Number Twenty Seven including champagne bars; contemporary wine bars; traditional pubs; and a range of great British and international cuisine. There is something for everyone, both in the village centre and the surrounding countryside, offering a full range of choice from traditional Lakeland pubs to fine dining. Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness village, on the way to the Lyth Valley. This area is also renowned for gentle but very scenic walking, with a wealth of acclaimed Lake District country pubs to choose from at the end of the day. Close to the village, you'll find Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This impressive property takes a stunning position overlooking Lake Windermere and has a range of interesting exhibitions. Join the A591 to Ambleside and Grasmere, and you can explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth. Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the nearby picturesque village of Hawkshead.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
