The property

A delightful detached character cottage for two in a great location. In it's elevated position it commands stunning panoramic views towards Brotherswater and the central Lake District Fells. One of a cluster of Lakeland stone properties nestling in the tiny hamlet of Hartsop, Weavers Cottage was an agricultural building dating back to the 17th Century. In the 1970s it was converted by an artisan for use as a weaving studio. Weavers Cottage is a locally important building and due to the historic character of the building and its prominent position, it is protected by The National Trust. The footpaths to the High Street Ridge, Hayeswater and Angle Tarn pass the door. A very pleasant day can be enjoyed on beautiful Ullswater, one of the largest lakes, take the steamer cruise to How Town and walk back along the eastern shore, or hire a little rowing or sailing boat on the lake. There are a number of pubs in the area but the cottage is well equipped for 'staying-in' and would admirably suit those who wish to cook at home and relax in quiet surroundings. Accommodation; This topsy turvey cottage is built on two floors. Ground floor entrance into hallway, with plenty of room for storing outdoor gear. Stairs to the attractive open plan living/dining room/kitchen (TV with Freeview, DVD, Wi-Fi and log burner), cruck beams support the pitched roof and five windows ensure excellent views all around. On the ground floor a pleasant double bedroom and separate bathroom (bath with shower over, basin and wc). A separate utility room, washer, microwave and freezer. Electric central heating and log burning stove. The Cottage retains its original character and is comfortably furnished in keeping with the local environment including slate floors and Herdwick wool carpets. This delightful holiday cottage will attract those wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Outside: Private drive with ample car parking space. South facing private garden with wild flowers and garden furniture. Panoramic views from the garden towards Hartsop Dodd, Dovedale, Hart Crag and St Sunday Crag. Two well-behaved pets accepted * non-smokers please * duvets/beds made up for arrival * Freeview TV (hard drive recorder) * WiFi internet * Bluetooth Sound System * fuel for log burner available locally * electric ceramic hob and oven * fridge * freezer * microwave * auto washer * landline * travel cot and high chair available - please order * towels available - please order * Bike and canoe store - key by arrangement * Bike wash * Village shop in Patterdale 2 miles Note: Internet is through satellite connection, which provides faster speeds than rural broadband in this area. About the location

The delightful hamlet of Hartsop lies in the Patterdale valley. It has retained its historic image with charming 17th-century grey stone cottages and working sheep farms. Hartsop is right in the heart of the Lake District and in the midst of some of the finest walking country that the area has to offer. It is a popular starting point for hill walkers climbing on the High Street range and the Helvellyn range. The village is overlooked by Brock Crags and Hartsop Dodd. It is a great centre for touring to all parts of the area and would provide a pleasant place to unwind. Ullswater Lake is less than 3 miles away giving you access to sailing, kayaking, and lake cruises. A mile from Hartsop is the small and remote lake of Hayeswater which serves as a reservoir for the town of Penrith.
