“This property is beautiful, set in an idyllic location.”

Perfect for exploring the lake district or just staying within the local area for walks. The garden is secure with fencing all around however if you have a small or very determined dog it would be possible for them to get through gaps. The only very minor annoyance we found was the bathrooms don't all have locks and those that do don't work. But it didn't impact on the enjoyment of our stay.

“We had a great time and will come back.”

Some things that would improve the experience include …..1) dishwasher tablets 2) bin bags 3) basic condiments eg cooking oil, salt/pepper 4) duvet covers too small for duvets 5) clothes hangers

“A lovely property in very peaceful location with a great, secure garden for the dogs.”

Our second visit and we will definitely be back! Just one very minor complaint - there aren't enough mugs!! There were only two of us so we managed but six people would have been forever washing up.

“Only issue we had was missing key for the door leading out on to veranda, Been on holidays to the Lake District many times but have never explored around Eleterwater normally pass it on way to Langdales and oh wow we found some fantastic walks.”

Beautiful lovely property only thing that we couldn’t get to work was apple airplay on to in lounge, wanted to share my photos with my nephews and their partners, but otherwise keep up the very high standards.

“We had a great week at Elterwater Lodge despite some interesting weather including flooded roads, two named storms, but the snow on higher ground added to the stay!”

Property is good size, comfortably furnished, good layout for party of six with options to spread out and tvs in all bedrooms a nice touch. Views from all windows a delight and often several of us sat in the various window seats lapping up the landscape views and wildlife in the garden. We would highly recommend this property and are planning to book a return visit next year but later in the year so can enjoy the decking area and large garden.

Super cottage with space for all this was our 2nd visit, beds comfortable very clean with excellent facilities we will book again A few snags- Downstairs toilet door does not lock No lock on master bathroom The toaster and kettle if run together blow the fuse’s The dining room chairs require reupholstering

“While the house and garden is very nice a few points worth noting.”

The guest information book was very poor, fortunately we knew the area. There was no welcome basket or tea towels to use so bring something for a cuppa. We were not made aware of likely visitors and had gardeners arrive to give quotes and window cleaners during our stay.

A true Lake District hideaway. Situated at the end of its own gravel drive, with 2.5 acres of land to roam in this beautifully renovated Elterwater, is just a 10-minute walk into the village itself, with the famous Britannia Inn and a delightful coffee shop and walks galore. The Eltermere Inn is just a 5-minute stroll from your front door. An ideal location to relax and take stock while enjoying the encompassing views of Red Bank, with Helvellyn proudly peeking through in the distance. Elterwater and the Langdales provide plenty of options for walkers from gentle lakeside strolls to challenging mountain climbs. Nearby fells and the Langdale Pikes combine to form impressive scenery whilst farmland and settlement add aesthetic value to the natural scenery with an ecology modified by human influence including important wildlife habitats. Accommodation. Entrance up a few steps onto the decked balcony to the rear of the property to access through into the kitchen. Hallway has tiled flooring to leave your muddy boots and jackets. Downstairs wc with basin is also home to the washer/dryer. A beautiful large kitchen with traditional yet modern units decorated neutrally pay compliment to solid oak work tops and breakfast bar with seating. An open dining room with TV and electric fire is also home to a beautiful oak dresser. Spacious lounge with 50" TV with Freesat, Netflix and Wi-Fi, comfortable seating on leather settees, log burner and views from all four windows dressed with high quality fabrics. The stairs lead up to 3 en-suite rooms and a family bathroom. The family bathroom with bath and hair shower, wc, basin and digital audio and Bluetooth mirror, to assist a relaxing soak after a hard day on the fells. The master bedroom with super king with en-suite, walk in electric shower, wc and basin. A further two bedrooms with stunning dual aspect rooms, both with ensuite shower toilet and king size zip beds ( please let us know if twin beds are required.) Outside. Enjoy a morning alfresco breakfast on the south facing decked balcony with comfortable garden furniture. Further large landscaped garden backed on to by 2.5 acres of fields to the left of the property on approach. Parking a plenty to the front and side of the property accommodating up to 4 cars. Storage for bikes or kayaks available in the large shed. A shelter in the field so horses can visit with you with prior arrangement.

LITTLE LANGDALE

Ambleside 5 miles.

The small hamlet of Little Langdale quietly sits in a scenic valley and consists of a scattering of houses and a local pub. The area is separated by the Lingmoor Fell from Great Langdale and is accessed via a twisting road which runs alongside the Brathay River, eventually passing by Little Langdale Tarn and heading to the Wrynose pass, following the path of an ancient Roman road. The landscape is magnificent with many regarding the area as the most beautiful in the British Isles, if not indeed the whole of Europe, inspiring many great poets over the years including William Wordsworth, known for his love of the area. With Ambleside and the whole of the National Park within easy reach, this magical location is not to be missed!
