“We have stayed at Stone Beck previously and are booked again for later in 2022.”

We are sorry that the property is no longer available as we would for sure book for next year. If we were forced to suggest improvements, then it would be to say that the bathroom is a little tired now. But we have loved staying there and would book again if we could.

Welcome back again Arthur. Thank you for choosing Stone Beck for your holidays in Grasmere. If you do a direct web search for Stone Beck it does say we are no longer taking bookings, but if you search via the Heart of the Lakes website you will see we are. I will look into why this is happening but just to reassure you that we are DEFINITELY still open and already have some bookings in the diary for next year. “Long broken leg on one lounge chair, facilities folder tired, mostly inappropriate and incomplete and out of date.”

WIFI password should be in facilities book. Bedding in main bedroom totally wrong for summer months. Some rusting kitchen utensils in drawer have now been removed. Large vehicles have difficulty in accessing in/out driveway and should have a warning notice about this. Coded key holder is not easy - would be almost impossible in dark. Food parcel left on doorstep was a delight.

“Nice quiet spot with some good walks from your door.”

Unfortunately the gas fire didn’t work, so it was often cold downstairs as the radiators are not enough to heat the kitchen and lounge. The TV reception was very poor. The lounge sofa was so low and not very comfy. Nice of the owners to drop off a welcome box on day two.

“Despite the stormy weather we had a lovely stay at Stone Beck.”

The cottage is lovely and spacious and the opulent furnishings really are a ‘home from home’. Particularly loved the Kingsize bed which is probably the best I’ve ever slept in and extremely comfortable. Location ideal for walking into Grasmere. A guest book would have been nice to offer/take advice to other visitors eg we had a few lovely meals at the Travellers Rest and would highly recommend. Also was extremely impressed with the very generous welcome box, best we’ve ever received in all our years. Thank-you. Would definitely stay there again.

“Property is in a great location and is spacious.”

However it’s clearly nearing the end of its current holiday rental. The property was not clean - cobwebs on lights and in corners, hairs all over mattress, oven requires thorough clean. Property only had one sharp knife.

It is such a lovely, cosy, warm ,clean, modern and comfortable house Everything you need and so peaceful. Near to Gradmere too. Saw red squirrels from the window , what a treat. We love it and this house has to be our favourite as we holiday regular in the lakes. thank you so much to the owners not only the beautiful bouquet which I took home and lasted another 10 days but the food hamper was so generous and the products were delicious.

New oven trays and knives. Also would be good to get some decent glasses, such as pint and Gun glasses. A 2nd set of outdoor chairs in the front would be great, the sun is at the side in a morning and at the front in an evening so you have to carry them back and forth.

Always a popular cottage in our portfolio, Stone Beck offers a high standard of decor and furnishings which will be much appreciated by regular clients and new visitors alike. Stone Beck is quietly placed away from the centre of Grasmere and yet within walking distance of the village and all its amenities. There are walks from the door for all ages and abilities. Accommodation: Entrance hall. Sitting room (TV, video, DVD) with slate fireplace and living flame gas fire, and bay window. Well-equipped dining aea and new kitchen with a pleasant light feel. Upstairs are two bedrooms. There is a large double at the front with a 5' bed, whilst the smaller room to the rear is a twin. Bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and wc. Gas central heating. Fitted carpets. Parts of the cottage date from the 17th century, however, the property has been recently refurbished bringing it right up to date. Furnishings are of a high standard with co-ordinated colours and quality fabrics making it an ideal base for holidays at any time of the year. Outside: There is ample parking for two cars in the driveway which leads off the passing quiet lane and there is a small rockery area with trees and a small stream. Nearest pub approx 200 yards. Grasmere centre approx half a mile.

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
