The property

A beautiful property in a former gentlemen's residence, this apartment split over two floors offers a spacious holiday for a family or a couple. Well-equipped and offering plenty of room for a relaxing stay. This apartment was the original 'Writing Room' for the building and still has the exact space to sit and reflect on the day. The property is formed from part of a Victorian Gentleman's residence dating back to 1861 and enjoys beautiful views down the valley. Beatrix Potter's fascinating home and museum is just about a mile away and she took her inspiration from the countryside all around. With easy rambles along country lanes, good pubs, like the Cuckoo Brow Inn, lake cruises and many interesting places to visit makes this the ideal location for a popular holiday venue in which to enjoy this beautiful area. Accommodation: The Writing room is one of six tastefully appointed apartments in Sawrey Knotts, an impressive building which retains the feel and atmosphere of a traditional country house. The main front door takes you into a spacious panelled hallway with the entrance to the Writing room on the left. Through the hallway on the right is the first of three bathrooms, the family bathroom with shower, wc and basin. The main living room is an open spacious room with comfy seating and open fire, large window, into the kitchen on the right with dining seating and then two steps into the double en-suite with Jacuzzi bath, shower over, basin and wc. From the entrance to the left is the original writing room and take the stairs to the downstairs twin with en-suite, shower, wc and basin. There is ample storage space for your personal items and a separate laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers out the back of the property. Furnishings are neutral and comfortable. About the location

HAWKSHEAD

Ambleside 4 miles; Kendal 24 miles.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
