“Spring Cottage is a great place to stay.”

Excellent location with an easy walk into Ambleside. The house is very well equipped and has all amenities that you could need. The master bedroom and bathroom is amazing and a real wow factor for the house. Ample parking for cars meant it was a great stay for me and my family (6 adults, 1 baby). Very comfortable, cosy and warm after a long day of walking.

The property

This delightful detached cottage has been completely renovated and extended to provide a superb holiday home for families or couples. The property nestles on the edge of ancient semi natural woodland in the hillside on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell, close to the famous stepping stones which cross the River Rothay, and just a short walk from beautiful Rydal Water. There are walks in the area for all ages and abilities and some of the most picturesque scenery in Lakeland is virtually 'on your doorstep'. The Rydal Round, Loughrigg Terrace and the summit of Loughrigg are all to hand as is the famous Fairfield Horseshoe, along with more secluded walks through adjoining woodland. The cottage is reached up a tree-lined gated drive and there is private parking for up to four cars. This is a very peaceful location on the old road from Rydal to Ambleside, virtually free of passing traffic in the heart of the lakes. Accommodation: Steps from the parking area lead into the entrance hall with feature stonework and window seat. Shower room with basin and wc and small utility room. Lovely spacious kitchen/dining room (lighting control system) with cosy seating area to one end with log burning stove and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden at the other end. Separate lounge (55" TV with Sky Q, DVD, Wi-Fi, CD player and radio) with further log burning stove. Garden room with windows all the way around to the patio doors to the terrace makes the most of the views over the garden and beyond the River Rothay to Wansfell Pike. Twin bedroom also on this level with en-suite shower, basin and wc. Downstairs leads to three more bedrooms - a master suite with super king bed (TV) with very spacious bathroom (separate shower, bath, twin basins, wc , and mood lighting), and doors out to small conservatory with seating overlooking the garden. A large twin room with doors to the garden and a smaller double which share the family bathroom (bath, separate shower, basin and wc). Separate from the house is a games room with table tennis table. Spring cottage is very comfortably furnished with karndean flooring and fitted carpets throughout. Sonos music system can be used in 4 separate zones within the house. Gas central heating. Outside: There is a large garden on various levels with steps (part of which is enclosed) and edged by woodland and rock outcrops along one side extending to over 10 acres through which you are free to wander and explore. This is a unique feature of the cottage allowing you private access to a beautiful woodland area. Garden table and chairs. Parking for up to four cars in the drive. Pub 5 mins walk, village and shops approx. 1 mile.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Note: Dogs are only welcome upstairs.
