    “The house was lovely but is looking quite tired in places-paint coming off walls etc and the sofas are obviously very old.”

    There is also no glass on the open fire in the second lounge, this meant all the smoke and fumes came into the room and actually made it unbearable. It was cold most of the time and as much as there are lots of bathrooms the ones on the top floor are unusable due to no pressure so you end up with only 2 bathrooms for showers etc We had a fantastic stay and if these things were rectified it would be superb

The property

Thwaite House is a magnificent detached house located on the edges of Coniston, Cumbria. The house is an excellent getaway for a multi-generational or large family of 14. The Victorian property features attractive decor throughout, as well as wonderful views of the countryside, and access to half-acre of mature gardens. Down the private lane, you'll find the charming home, which is flanked by fields with sheep roaming throughout and is opposite seven handy off-road parking places. Go inside to find a spacious hallway, then turn left to find a pleasant snug with a vista of Coniston Water and a Smart TV with a DVD player. As you walk through the home, you'll come across a sitting area with a woodburning stove to warm you up whilst you make yourself at home on the corner sofa. When you're feeling peckish, head to the kitchen/diner, which features country décor with sleek touches; the group's chef can get to work preparing delectable meals using the fantastic range of appliances on hand, which includes an American-style fridge/freezer, dishwashers, and a Smeg range cooker. When dinner has been rustled up, sit down to a tasty meal at the space's dining table whilst you catch up on the day's adventures. The convenient utility is located beside the kitchen and has your washing facilities as well as a cloakroom. When it's time to retire for the night, head upstairs to the first floor, where you'll find four of the seven beautifully decorated bedrooms, three of which are super-king-sizes, one of which has Jack-and-Jill access a bathroom, and the other of which has a king-size and enviable views of the fells. Another cloakroom can be found on the first floor, as well as two fantastically fitted bathrooms, both of which have roll-top baths and separate walk-in showers; leaving you spoilt for choice when it comes to getting ready in the mornings! Continue upstairs to find three more superb bedrooms, including a king-size with characterful beams adorning the ceilings and views of Coniston Water, an additional king-size overlooking Coniston Old Man, and a twin; these bedrooms are not only close to a spacious shower room, but also to another fabulous bathroom. The house is surrounded by lovely gardens, take some time to meander among them and take in the beautiful scenery! Coniston Inn, a pleasant pub across the road, allows you to enjoy meals out without having to venture far; the village of Coniston also has numerous eateries, a well-equipped shop, a petrol station, and a fascinating museum, ensuring that you will be well-catered for during your visit! Thwaite House & Guardswood Cottage are two superb holiday homes, set in an acre of shared grounds and gardens, and resting in the charming village of Coniston, Cumbria.
