    “The Windermere Suite is the fourth apartment in which we have stayed in the Loughrigg Brow development over the last 20 years, and is by far the best decorated and refurbished.”

    However, the ongoing issue with the drains in the en-suite to the twin room which has been mentioned by many guests going back to 2018 is a very real issue. There are even instructions in the owners manual to tip large amounts of water into the toilet to reduce the odious smells. Some days it was completely over-powering through the whole apartment in spite of following instructions. The shower in the main en-suite had intermittent power to the pump and therefore did not work properly as the ...

    However, the ongoing issue with the drains in the en-suite to the twin room which has been mentioned by many guests going back to 2018 is a very real issue. There are even instructions in the owners manual to tip large amounts of water into the toilet to reduce the odious smells. Some days it was completely over-powering through the whole apartment in spite of following instructions. The shower in the main en-suite had intermittent power to the pump and therefore did not work properly as the water stopped and started continuously - the agent suggested this had been remedied following the same comment by a guest earlier in 2024. It has not. The TV in the sitting room switched itself off for no apparent reason - so frustrating. Only 2 loo rolls were present in 3 bathrooms in an apartment for 4 - penny-pinching. If this apartment is to maintain its "luxury" listing and price tag, all of these basic amenities need to be sorted out. How disappointing in such a beautifully appointed apartment in an amazing location. And a bottle of wine?? No sign of that either, but at least we were not the only guests to have been left off the list to receive one.

    Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I am sorry to read that the problems with the drains have returned and that you had issues with other amenities. Unfortunately, as you did not make us aware of this during your stay we were unable to a send our maintenance team to resolve it and make your stay more comfortable. We agree that there should be more toilet roll - one per bathroom. An oversight that we have raised with the housekeeping team. As this is a self catering accommodation we only provide a starter amount. We hope you can understand that this is not a standard service and out of the kindness of the owner, who is not always able to leave some for guests. Windermere Suite offers high quality accommodation in delightful hillside surroundings with fine views to Lake Windermere. Situated on the outskirts of Ambleside this delightful second floor apartment gives endless opportunities for walking without any need to use the car. Loughrigg, Fairfield and Wansfell are there to be explored whilst more level walks encompass Under Loughrigg and Rydal - a delight in any season. Reached by a long drive, Loughrigg Brow is a magnificent 19th century Grade II listed building - originally the vicarage - and is set in ten acres of beautiful hillside grounds with security gates at the main entrance. Ambleside, which is within walking distance, has quality shops, restaurants and pubs, good tennis courts, bowls, and lake cruises. Accommodation: Steps to main front door then to internal access by impressive main stairs to second floor. Entrance hall. Spacious dining/kitchen, beautifully fitted in limed oak, with a full range of units and large dining table for family meals. Rather dramatic split level sitting room makes use of interesting roof lines, some beams, and has fine lake views from the south facing elevated 'turret' area at one end (Smart TV (Netflix using own account), Blu Ray DVD, Bose Bluetooth speaker, DAB radio). The sitting room benefits from a small log burning stove. There are two good bedrooms - one King size en-suite with luxury bathroom (bath with hand-held shower, basin, wc and separate shower). The other, a twin room is also en-suite with large shower, basin and wc. There are views from all the main windows - some to Lake Windermere, others over Ambleside to fells beyond. The kitchen and double bedroom overlook the grounds. Additional wc/basin in hallway. The property has been furnished to a high standard throughout in a contemporary style with lots of personal touches making it a real home from home. Outside: Ten acres of grounds with garden benches and many trees and shrubs. Hard tennis court. Allocated parking for one car with additional visitor parking. Easy downhill stroll through the park to village centre takes only a few minutes.

Please note external decorating work is taking place at the property between 24th April 2024 - 1st August 2024 and scaffolding will be erected around the building

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
