“Excellent Property Oak Bank is a lovely property in a quiet location and yet close to amenities.”

We found it warm, comfortable, spacious and very clean. We enjoyed great walks from the house and watersports were also within easy reach. This was our third visit to Oak Bank and I hope that we will be able to come again. Thanks for a nicely maintained and well equipped property. Ms P Parry

Thank you for submitting your feedback. It is always good to hear both positive and negative comments. You said: Comment: Cleanliness was not up to standard, dusty bedrooms and hob not clean, dishwasher not emptied. I too am disappointed that the cleaning was not up to standard and have already brought the cleanliness issue to the attention of the Head of Housekeeping at Heart of the Lakes. With regard to the dishwasher, I apologise if the laminated note left by the cleaner was not in an obvious place. I can't recall the exact wording, but it does ask guests to leave the property with used crockery etc. in the dishwasher on a hot wash, so that the next guests know that it is Covid safe. While this is not requested during 'normal' times, this change was made for the benefit and reassurance of guests. Thank you again raising your concerns and I hope you will come to Oak Bank again. I have been completely happy with Heart of the Lakes over the years and not at all happy with Sykes. I see that they now have become one. This disturbs me and I hope that the excellent service I have received from Heart of the Lakes continues.

The property

A spacious house with all the comforts of home - a stylish modern interior and excellent facilities including three bathrooms, two of which are en-suite. The location - just outside Ambleside gives you ample opportunities for relaxing or touring throughout the National Park. 'Brockhole' - the National Park Visitor Centre is five minutes walk away and offers much of interest with grounds sweeping down to the lake and lake cruises available from the pier in season. There are places to eat out close by - the Merewood Hotel for a special occasion or more casual dining at the Low Wood or Pedros at the Sun Inn both within a mile of the property. Accommodation: Steps to the front door and entrance vestibule. Spacious and welcoming open plan sitting/dining room (log burner, TV with Freeview, DVD, CD, Wi Fi .French door opens to the raised patio area, which is in a sheltered south-facing corner with garden table and chairs. Glass doors lead into the kitchen. An inner hall from one end of the lounge leads to the first bedroom - a spacious split-level double with king-sized bed and en-suite with bath, shower, basin and wc. Stairs to the first floor lead to the two further bedrooms - a second spacious split-level double with king-sized bed and en-suite shower room (shower, basin and wc). The third bedroom is a twin and has use of the third bathroom - shower, basin and wc. Utility room for laundry. Back door from the upper floor accesses a small rear garden area with seating and views towards Lake Windermere. Modern furnishings and lighting with fitted carpets in co-ordinated colours offer a high degree of comfort. Outside: In addition to the patio and garden areas already mentioned the house has private parking for one car plus 'ad hoc' visitor parking on site. Clients have shared use of further gardens and grounds around this and the other properties at Merewood. The lane at the side of the house will take you up Wansfell or to the fells flanking the Troutbeck valley. Nearest shop and pub at Troutbeck Bridge 1 mile, and Ambleside 2 miles.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
