Importantly - knowing fuel was availabile for the log burner. After all, it is pretty obvious that almost all, if not all, tenants of the Lodge are visiting the Lake District from afar - and how are they supposed to know where to acquire logs from? At the time of booking the description stated that there was a "log burner and oil fired central heating - fuel included" and I reasonably believed there would be logs available. When I arrived at the Lodge we discovered that there was no logs and the barbeque was a complete rust heap and without doubt an unusable health hazard - ergo there was no barbeque. There was a note in the welcome pack that logs could be ordered from the local farmer who would deliver them - cost £5 for a 'large bag'. We eMailed and order but no logs were forthcoming. Both this and the barbeque placed a very negative impression on what would otherwise have been considered a nice comfortable cottage. I raised these issue with "Heart of the Lakes" and their response was to remove the barbeque from the listing details and to add a line which stated logs were not included. This to my mind is a completely inappropriate approach and I will be complaining directly to them about this action. I terms of a comment for the owner - I find it hard to believe that for the miserly cost of £5 these would not be included in the tenancy - even if there was a note that said there was one bag included, tenants will need to pay for additional logs if required. You could even raise the price by that £5 a week if the cost is too much to consider - and it wouldn't stop people being interested in booking.

Dear Philip, thank you for your review, we take these seriously. We have amended the description to clarify the log situation at the property. We are going to look into as to why you were unable to obtain logs. We very much hope you were able to enjoy the rest of the facilities and the house. Property Owner
