The Stonecliffe Apartments

The Stonecliffe Apartments consists of an impeccable selection of four apartments resting in Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria. This collection offers elegant interiors with a contemporary flair and lovely nods to the area throughout such as Herdwick wool throws and artwork, along with access to private parking and an array of the Lake District National Park's sights on their doorsteps. The building of Stonecliffe itself is a large, traditionally built residence which enjoys a prominent position in the heart of the Bowness-on-Windermere, making for an impressive getaway for couples and small families alike. Once a small fishing village, Bowness-on-Windermere grew in the 19th Century to welcome tourists and visitors mainly due its beautiful location on the shores of Lake Windermere. Today you can enjoy a cruise around the lake, or hire a rowing boat or kayak. The town itself has many things to do, including the World of Beatrix Potter, the Old Laundry Theatre, a small cinema and many individual shops, restaurants and bars. Across the water by Ferry to the tiny hamlet of Far Sawrey is Beatrix Potter's home, Hill Top and many lovely walks around the village of Hawkshead. Further up the Lake is the wonderful Wray Castle, now owned by the National Trust and a great family day out. All around you of course, are many walks and wanders into the fells, from idyllic strolls around Cockshott Point to moderate climbs up Claife Heights. The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake.
