This sophisticated Lakeland residence is breathtaking inside and out, with panoramic glorious views through enormous windows, elegant living space for your sociable gathering. Highbeck stands alongside Highbeck Cottage within a secluded 3 acres of gardens and grounds, a stroll from the village of Crosthwaite and the award-winning Punchbowl Inn. The property is spacious and beautifully presented with a light airy feel and has great flexibility for all. Bags of space and comfy leather sofas in the lounge with adjacent dining at the solid oak dining set and a chic country kitchen makes for a luxurious sociable feel . The beautiful south facing sun terrace and a choice of garden seating areas to the side and rear of the property spoils you for choice to enjoy the far reaching views; what a great place to relax with a glass of something and soak up the peace and tranquility of this setting. This is a wonderful retreat for couples, families or other groups being so close to all the attractions of Lake Windermere, Bowness and the lakes beyond. Beautiful scenery surrounds with many a scenic walk close by. Note - if you like this property and have a larger group to accommodate we also have the next door property, Highbeck Cottage. Highbeck Cottage (please book separately)is a separate detached cottage sleeping 4 making for great flexibility for larger groups of up to 12 across both properties. Accommodation in detail A sweeping gravel driveway leads to the property with steps leading to the entrance and large sun terrace. Enter via a quarry tiled porch and elegant entrance hall, leading to the stunning lounge with a wall of glass providing the views. The room is beautifully furnished and to one end is the dining area which leads round to the kitchen with a further small dining table. Downstairs bedrooms are large with one being a king size and the other bedroom can be made up as a super king size or twins (please specify when booking). Two separate shower rooms and additional WC. Upstairs to the Master Suite with a cute glass fronted balcony to enjoy those views or stay in bed and still see the views through the balcony doors! En suite to this room is large with a claw foot bath and separate shower. Again on this level is a twin room again with a good size en suite with a claw foot bath and separate shower. Location This sophisticated rural Lake District holiday home lies only a stroll from the small village of Crosthwaite, in the north of the Lyth Valley and only a short drive from Bowness and Lake Windermere. The Lyth Valley lies to the east of Lake Windermere, riddled with picturesque walking and cycling routes and renowned as a peaceful landscape compared to busier Lake District holiday destinations such as Bowness and Ambleside. But you'll never be too far from Lake Windermere, shops and restaurants in Bowness and the main driven route into the heart of the Lakes. The Lyth Valley is also renowned for its scattering of high-class country pub restaurants, one of which stands only a stroll away from Highbeck. The Punchbowl Inn has long been regarded as one of the finest Lake District gastropubs, well worth a visit and nestling alongside a pretty old church. If you choose self-catering accommodation in the Lyth Valley during spring, you'll witness something else this valley is famous for; renowned for their annual harvest of damsons, orchards throughout the valley give rise to stunning damson blossom in spring. The old market town of Kendal is also easily accessible from Crosthwaite, with a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as entertainment for all ages at the Brewery Arts Centre.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

UNDERBARROW

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 7.5 miles.

Underbarrow is a quiet, pretty Lakeland village close to the historic market town of Kendal and within reach of the wonderful Lake Windermere. The village has a pub and is ideally placed for exploring southern Lakeland and the Lake District National Park. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, both with fine gardens, are nearby, and Kendal has much to offer in terms of shopping and is quite lively culturally, thanks to the Brewery Arts Centre and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which is widely recognised as one of the best in the region. Also worth a visit is the ruin of Kendal Castle, which was formerly the home of Katherine Parr, and there’s plenty to see and do with Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Ulverton, Bowness, Ambleside and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park within driving distance. Underbarrow is a lovely base for exploring the area.
