The property

This pretty end terrace stone-built cottage is located at the entrance to a little courtyard just by the road and midway between the centre of Ambleside village and Lake Windermere and just a short level walk to either. Printers Cottage is much loved by its owners who visit regularly and have made it their Lakeland home-from-home. There are many personal touches to make you feel really welcome and the cottage is suitable for holidays at any time of the year. With lake cruises easily to hand and lots of walks to do in the area you may never need the car - Ambleside has lots of places to eat and some excellent local shops for your everyday needs. Accommodation: Entrance porch with room for walking gear etc.. Door into sitting/dining room with open kitchen at one end (TV, video, living flame gas stove and free wi-fi). Stairs to first floor where there are two bedrooms - a comfortable double also with TV. Smaller bedroom with two single beds. Good bathroom with corner shower, basin, wc and heated towel rail. Fitted carpets throughout. Off peak heating and hot water. The cottage is double glazed and comfortably furnished with attractive colours and fabrics. Outside: Tiny patio just by the door with garden bench. Parking for one car in the courtyard. Note: sorry no cot, high chair or towels available. Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
