The property

If you are looking for a comfortable village centre cottage High Spy could be just the one for you. This late 19th century terraced cottage is located in a quiet cul-de-sac and has been imaginatively remodelled and refurbished to offer high quality accommodation for four with two bathrooms - ideal for two couples wishing to stay together. With all the village facilities virtually on your doorstep you will be able to make the most of our choice local pubs and restaurants, individual shops, up-to-the-minute films and much more. You can walk to Lake Windermere for lake cruises and boat hire or spend your days on the surrounding high fells or exploring the many country lanes on foot or bike. Accommodation: Enclosed entrance porch. The ground floor of the cottage has been opened up and extended to maximise the light and be almost open plan with a modern staircase partially dividing the sitting area from the extended contemporary fitted dining/kitchen to the rear (TV with Freeview, video/DVD, iPod dock and free wi-fi, gas/coal effect stove). On the first floor a twin bedroom to the front has views to the village and Wansfell. The modern and spacious bathroom has shower, basin and wc. The top floor offers a double bedded room from where the wide window allows a fine view over the village rooftops to Wansfell from its high vantage point. The top floor bathroom has bath with hand-held shower, basin and wc. Gas central heating and hot water keep you cosy in any season. The owners have furnished their cottage in a smart and sophisticated style using light colours, mostly fitted carpets, and some cushion flooring. Outside: Rear patio/courtyard has a garden table and chairs. Parking permit supplied for use on local roads. Ambleside village shops etc 200 yards. Note: No children under 12 years. No pets but owners dog visits the property.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
