  • “I had to buy a hairdryer and an egg cup - pretty basic/standard items - no big deal but would have been good if these had already been installed in the cottage.”

    Some vertical/privacy blinds would be nice - as the sofa faces the car park we were on show and so not very relaxing unless the curtains were closed. We love pet free propertys - much more hygienic, thank you. But unfortunately during our 2nd week Juniper Cottage/next door had a dog which barked in the middle of the night and ruined a couple of days holiday as were so tired - not nice being woken at 3.30 a.m. on more than one occasion. Obviously this is out of your hands but I think you should be made aware that this can be an issue. Happy for you to publish my feedback if ANONYMOUS. Thank you.

A lovely Lakeland stone built courtyard cottage that has been renovated to a high standard. Four Seasons welcomes you into a lounge, kitchen diner with solid oak furnishings. Kick off your boots and relax into this well located property just out of the centre of Ambleside. A level 2 minute walk will take you to the shops, garden centre, pubs and restaurants, while 10 minutes away is Waterhead from here you can take a boat ride across Lake Windermere. Accommodation: Entrance hall, with hanging space for waterproofs and muddy boots. Sitting/dining room (40" TV, TalkTalk YouView essential TV package with 7 day catch up and on demand TV, Blu-Ray player with a selection of family friendly DVD's and Blu-Ray discs, Wi-Fi, DAB Radio and CD player, electric fire) leads in to a fitted kitchen with induction hob and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and store room. Upstairs are two modern decorated bedrooms - one double and one single with solid oak bedroom furniture providing ample cupboard and wardrobe space. The newly fitted Bathroom has bath with mains pressure shower over, basin and wc. Airing space is available for wet clothes. Furnishings throughout are comfortable with a leather suite, oak pieces and oak effect flooring downstairs, fully carpeted stairs and bedrooms. The cottage is double glazed and has gas central heating making it cosy throughout the year. Outside: There is private parking for one car in the courtyard and a small seating area with wooden bench ideal to catch the afternoon sun. Shops and restaurants in Ambleside are just a few minutes level walk. Ambleside bus station and laundrette are nearby, with a public phone 200 yards away. Four Seasons makes an ideal holiday cottage any time of the year.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
