“The cottage was excellently equipped very comfortable.”

What was very very useful was a folder which included appliance instructions. Stayed at a number of locations where the oven opperation was a guess. One minor point was having a clock in the kitchen would be helpful.

“Lovely comfortable cottage.”

Great location for exploring the Lakes, Keswick and Penrith. Beautiful setting with great views of mountains and lambs. Added bonus with the hot tub, which we enjoyed every evening after a day of exploring. Cottage had all that we needed and lots of lovely personal touches. Also a big covered shed to leave our bikes. Owners were friendly and welcoming. With 3 kids was great to have a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Very comfortable beds. A great week holiday, should have booked 2 weeks!

“We stayed at Daisy cottage Christmas week, we arrived a day late after car trouble, the owners held our holiday open and luckily we managed to make it the day after.”

The cottage is beautiful, super clean and there was lots of little extra christmassy touches we weren't expecting. The hosts are a lovely, welcoming couple and made sure we had everything we needed. Thankyou to the hosts for a wonderful stay in a beautiful location.

The property

Converted from a 17th century farmhouse, retaining many original features including a heavily beamed lounge with views over the fields which circumscribe the 3 bedroomed cottage. Penruddock is conveniently located just a short drive off the M6 motorway with easy access to Lake Ullswater, only 7 miles away and Keswick only a 15 minute drive. The Caldbeck fells are also within easy reach providing a quieter haven for walkers than the hustle of the Lake District. There are 2 pubs within 1 mile and Penrith, the "Gateway to the Lakes" is only 10 minutes away providing a wealth of shops, bars, restaurants, cinema and much more. The cottages have been converted from a 17th century farmhouse, are light and airy, furnished and equipped to a high standard and have been converted from the original barn and retain many original features, including beams and magnificent views over the fields which circumscribe the barn. Ideally suited for those who appreciate the peace and quiet but within easy access of the many facilities close by these properties are sure to appeal to those who enjoy the "great outdoors" with cycling, water sports and much more all within a few miles. Daisy Cottage is the most spacious of the 3 cottages with a separate dining/kitchen, the heavily beamed cosy lounge has an electric stove and access to the patio/garden and private hot tub comprises: Lounge with Electric Stove, TV and DVD player, 40" Smart television. Dining/kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and dining table looking out through the full size cart door to the fells beyond. First floor: Double bedroom. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath, hand basin and WC. All properties are oil centrally heated have W-Fi, Freeview and use of the shared barbecue. Private Hot Tub. All oil, electric, bed linen and towels included. Cot available. Private parking. There is a laundry room which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and ample space for drying clothes. There is a large paddock area available to all cottages with picnic tables.

£50 cash deposit on arrival for the hot tub paid locally. This will be fully refunded provided you have followed the terms and condition of use and no damage/contamination is injured to the hot tub. Owner will send the terms and conditions directly

£25 per week charge for use of the electric charging point. Paid locally if required.

Keswick 11 miles; Penrith 6 miles.

The charming old village of Penruddock sits in a secluded position in the northern Lake District between Keswick and Penrith, and just four miles from Ullswater. The village is spread out amongst beautiful rolling countryside and wonderful scenery and is made up of a number of farm dwellings, traditional Lakeland homes and two churches. Penruddock originated in Celtic times, with the name derived from Pen, a Celtic name for 'hill' and 'rhuddawc' meaning red in Welsh to reflect the reddish brown colour of the soil found in the area.
