The property

Finkle Laithe is an absolutely charming Lakeland stone barn conversion built in 1767 and converted to a high specification in 2000 retaining many original features including "arrow slit windows", latch doors, oak trusses, beams and lintels. Situated in the tiny hamlet of Matterdale End, it is a perfect Lakeland retreat for couples wishing to stay together or for one couple looking for a special destination - especially honeymooners! at any time of the year. Ullswater is within easy reach for steam cruises and quiet water sports - dinghy sailing, canoeing and fishing. There are great walks from the door, and a visit to the magnificent waterfalls at Aira Force is a 'must'. Accommodation: Entrance hallway with slate floor, space to hang coats and leave boots and doors to utility room/drying room with wc, and kitchen. Hand built dining kitchen in sweet chestnut with granite worktops, electric Aga, additional hob and combination oven, island unit, DAB radio/bluetooth speaker and doors to patio and garden. Door leading to downstairs double bedroom king size bed, hand built ash furniture, dressing area, and newly fitted en-suite shower room with local slate top with under counter basin, heated mirror and wc. Spiral staircase from kitchen leads to sitting room with exposed beams, gallery, inglenook fireplace with log burning stove, TV with Sky basic channels and free Wi-Fi. Door off sitting room to second double bedroom having newly fitted en-suite bathroom with roll top bath with shower attachment, basin and wc. Decorated and furnished tastefully throughout with slate floors and fitted carpets and lots of attention to detail. The property is heated by an air source heat pump. Outside: South facing landscaped gardens, patio with table and chairs and lovely views to Gowbarrow Fell. Private off road parking for 2 cars in gated drive.
