Jacqui “A lovely, sympathetically converted apartment, fitted out to a good standard.”
It was great to see that the usual ‘that’ll do’ wasn’t applicable here, with good quality fixtures and fittings, comfortable beds and sofas. A warm, quiet apartment, with plenty of hot water. It’s only a stones throw from all the amenities of Keswick. What more could you want!

Fred “This was our 2nd weeks break in Greta Howe in the space of 3 months.”
Had a wonderful time on both occasions and would hope to return later in the year. Probably the best recommendation you can ask for! The house is unique, interesting architecture and with a fascinating history, very spacious and great views of the mountains, both from the front and, especially from the dining area at the rear. . It is ideally placed at the edge of downtown Keswick, beside the River Greta and at the start of a short footpath through the Howrahs to Portinscale, a great way to start your day. All the facilities of Keswick are within easy walking distance. We also enjoyed the recently upgraded rail trail from the former Keswick Station to Threlkeld (where theres an excellent communuty run cafe for lunch or coffee and cake. So good, we walked it twice! Only negative was the appalling construction site adjacent to Greta Howe which is to be a Premier Inn. How it got planning permission is beyond me. The authorities who approved this should be ashamed of themselves. Ps. I marked 0 for how likely would you be to recommend us. I take it this relates to your booking agency rather than the property. I would 100 percent recommend the property but would never recommend any booking agency.
- Fred, March 2022Jill “Lovely spacious property.”
Very comfortable and warm. Easy walking distance to shops and the lake. Shame about the construction next door but it didn’t bother us at all. We would have loved to have used the cafe below but it wasn’t open. We would definitely recommend this property.
- Jill, February 2022S “Lovely property, lots of space and well decorated.”
Able to get warm over winter with good fire. As others have said nowhere near enough kitchen equipment. Not enough plates, mugs or cooking stuff which is a bit wierd and not excused by covid. Also the shower temperature in one of the showers is fixed and not really warm enough. There is a premier inn being built next door which didn’t really bother us as couldn’t hear it as windows are well glazed. I would stay again if they fixed the notes items.
- S, December 2021Mike “We loved it.”
Convenience for Booth's and town centre a real advantage. Excellent parking. Kitchen is short on saucepan lids and serving dishes.
- Mike, October 2021Virginia “There is a general lack of kitchen equipment which makes it difficult to prepare the most basic meal.”
- Virginia, September 2021H “There were two issues alas.”
Kitchen had no serving dishes. We eat in every night because we found it difficult in current climate to book for six. Not enough plates etc to cope with putting everything on dishwasher. Think the kitchen equipment needs sorting out. Only other issue was car parking on BBC a Friday night. The restaurant had a bike night on a Friday do when you arrive car parking is at a premium maybe fo change over on a Saturday? Other that that it was perfect!
- H, August 2021Graham “The flat is very spacious and the owners have done a wonderful job in restoring and renovating the historic and interesting building, and our party of 6 adults had a great holiday.”
It is very convenient for the centre of Keswick - on the main road in from the west. We would certainly use it again.
- Graham, July 2021Lance “A lovely flat, splendidly convenient for the Keswick Convention”
- Lance, July 2021Julie “Very limited supply of pots and pans and plates etc.”
Although enough cups and plates etc for six there wasn’t any extra to put side things on. But saying that we understood that it was likely to be down to Covid. It was very quiet inside despite being above a cafe bar and the food served in the bar was lovely. Closes at nine at the latest on a couple of nights so no cars reviving their engines. The owners were lovely and fixed a problem we had immediately. Nice and clean apt ideally situated. Best view from dining room table. Only negatives are that there isn’t a full length mirror which isn’t major and the parking spaces aren’t marked for the apartment so if you went out in your car you could end up without a space to park when you came back to unless like us you don’t usually use your car. Overall a very good time with brilliant weather, nice owners who also own the cafe downstairs.
