The property

This beautifully renovated cottage is just a mile from Bassenthwaite village in a stunning location on the edge of the Skiddaw Fells, with panoramic views of the fells from the upstairs of the cottage. There are fine walks from the door for all abilities, and cycle routes pass the lane to the property. Keswick and Cockermouth are an equal distance away with regular farmers markets, festivals, live theatre and cinema. Many activities are available on Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake for the more adventurous, and a trip to The Lakes Distillery at Bassenthwaite is a must! Accommodation: The house is upside down with the living accommodation upstairs to take advantage of the stunning views. Entrance into hallway with room to store coats and shoes. Off the hallway are two lovely king size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms; one with bath, separate shower, basin and wc and the other with walk in wet room with basin and wc. Separate wc off hallway. Stairs lead up to an impressive character open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room with cruck beams (TV with Freeview channels, DVD, Sonos speaker and free Wi-Fi) and small balcony with views of the fells and garden with stream below. Low Melbecks House has been thoughtfully renovated to a very high standard to provide everything you would need on your self-catering holiday and really feels like a home from home. Original slate and hard flooring with underfloor heating throughout. Low Melbecks House and Low Melbecks Cottage (4106) are adjoining properties and can be let individually or together for larger parties up to 8 people. Outside: Large garden with trees and shrubs and garden seating bordered by a stream (children require supervision). Parking for two cars in the drive. Separate games room with pool table. The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
