Ambleside in the Lake District is ideal is an ideal base for you to enjoy this year’s OVO Tour of Britain cycle race which takes place in Cumbria on the 6 & 7 September. It’s the first time that two full stages of one of Britain’s top sporting event have been held in one county.

Watch the riders fly past in an exciting highspeed sprint section in Ambleside or, a short distance from the town, are the locations for two gruelling King of the Mountains hill climb challenges – at Hawkshead Hill to the south and Dunmail Raise to the north.

Why not make a week of it and bring your bikes, or hire them here, to enjoy the many road cycle routes around the Lake District or explore the fells and forests on mountain bikes trails. There are places you can hire electric bikes to give you an extra boost and take the hard work out of the hills..

We have self-catering properties that are suitable for you to bring your bikes and keep them secure. All of our properties are surrounded by World Heritage Site landscape and the home from home comforts to make your stay memorable.
