The School: Learn to truly relax in a stunning Grade II former classroom

Class is in session as guests prepare to be educated at “The School’, a beautiful property with room for up to eight people who have plenty of room to spread out and relax.

Built in 1835 from local stone and slate, this property was used as the village school until the early 1960s before becoming a private home. 46 years later, it was completely transformed in into a luxury, architect designed holiday getaway, nestled snugly in the small village of Mungrisdale.

There’s easy, direct access to Raven Crags which rise to the rear of the house, which offers outstanding views across the Northern Lakes. Those who love walking in the high fells will take great delight in the hills around with paths to the summits of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Caldbeck Fells starting from the door. For those who don’t want to venture quite so far or high, however, guests can also enjoy a good sized south-west facing enclosed front garden.

A large double-height sitting/dining room offers beautiful views out over Mungrisdale, with three bedrooms and a large open plan lounge area leading to the garden and a second kitchen. Two spacious master bedrooms compliment the whole interior, designed with maximum comfort in mind.

Nearby, The Mill Inn at Mungrisdale is famous for its bar food and there are other excellent country pubs at Caldbeck and Threlkeld. Shopping, live theatre and golf at Keswick, cruises on both Derwentwater and Ullswater lakes will complete your holiday in this beautiful property.
