The Lake District & Cumbria probably does not come across as a first choice destination when you think of golf, but you know, it should Ive seen it written that Cumbria is like the Garden of England when it comes to its golf courses. Cumbrian Golf may not be very well advertised, we, at Heart of the Lakes would like to change the fact that golf in the Lake District should be a first choice golfing destination while touring the UK. Of the 32 courses available to play in Cumbria the variety and value for money are second to none and when it comes to the views none of the courses will disappoint: a round in the heart of the lakes is a pleasant distraction if youre not on your game.
Golf and Self Catering go hand in hand, but we understand that once your car is full to the brim with all the essential self-catering paraphernalia that you and your family require for a week away in the Lake District, that there may well be no room for any golf clubs. Heart of the Lakes has the solution: in conjunction with Carus Green GC in Burneside we are able to offer Heart of the Lakes customers golf club hire, using the latest Taylor Made clubs. These can be made available to use at Carus Green GC or indeed, take and use at as many Cumbrian courses as you can manage. Daily and Week rates arranged subject to availability.

- Weekday round will cost only £40.00 a weekend will cost you £45.00
If you wish to take the clubs to play at other courses in the Heart of the Lakes the following prices are available to you:
- 1 Day rental £25.00 3 Day rental £65.00 5 Day rental £90.00 + the selected course green fees

Carus Green GC
Beautifully situated par 70 course, ideal for those that enjoy a good walk with no real hills to contend with, buggy hire available if pre-arranged. Club Hire available for Heart of the Lakes customers. With the rivers Kent, Mint and Sprint meandering through the course (and if you play like me you can go in them all on the same round !) it offers challenges to every level of golfer.Your experience starts with the fabulously stocked Pro shop and large multi bay driving range and the fantastic club house (new for 2012) with all the facilities you could ask for: including a 1st floor bar restaurant with views down the 18th Hole from the bar area and balcony 'the ideal 19th Hole', great beer and great food. Out on the course you will find beautifully kept fairways and well-kept greens, the odd bunker and plenty of trees defining the holes. Beckside Golf Course ~ Crook
Beckside Golf Course ~ Crook, from Windermere turn right just past the Sun Inn at Crook.
There is no Web-site, No booking facility and No Club House all of which contribute to the character of this course. This could be one of the best kept secrets of the whole county. A fascinating and challenging little 9 holer home grown by its farmer/ owner Mike Jackson, originally a dinky little 6 hole course used only by Mike with both Tees & Greens surrounded by electric fencing. Now a super little course offering challenging Tee shots and more challenging Greens.
At only £10 per round, its worth paying the money just for the views from the 5th Tee ..
A Cumbrian golf course situated in a splendid location between the delights of the Eden Valley and the majesty of the Lake District. The Lakeland fells provide a magnificent backdrop to this par 69 course formed in 1890.
Located high above the lovely town of Penrith, this moorland course offers a worthy challenge to any visiting golfer. A clear day will have the added advantage of providing some of the finest views of the mountains of the Northern Lake District.
Seascale Golf Club
Situated on the West coast of Cumbria with views of the Isle of Man and Scotland to the West, the mountains of the Lake District to the East, makes this a perfect place to enjoy a great day, both on and off the course. Founded in 1893, Seascale golf links are the design of Willie Campbell and George Lowe. The course is a traditional links which is maintained to the highest standards offering golfers of all levels of ability an ideal place to test out their skills. It is included in The Rolex Worlds Top 1000 Golf Courses along with only 282 courses in the whole of Europe.Do not let the drive out to the West coast put you off, 8 of us from Bowness with varying Handicaps went not long back and it was an outstanding day out, fantastic course, well maintained and great food in the club house after .
