This delightful cottage is at the Merewood Lodge site at Ecclerigg, halfway between Windermere and Ambleside. The building was formerly a stable block and the conversion was carefully managed by architects to provide an upside down house with views of Lake Windermere from the upstairs windows. The property is maintained to a high standard. It has the benefit of a secluded walled patio to the rear with table and chairs for relaxing and dining. Whatever the reason for your visit, be it walking, touring or simply relaxing this excellent location and property will make an ideal base for your Lake District holiday right in the heart of the National Park.
There are footpaths to the shores of Lake Windermere through the grounds of the Brockhole Visitor Centre which is close by - boats to Ambleside and Bowness call in here along with some Lake Cruises in season. Several good pubs in the area are not to be missed and the Merewood Hotel, just next door - perfect if you don't want to drive.
Accommodation: The front door is at first floor level and reached up steps at the side. Inner entrance hall has room to hang your outdoor gear and leads directly into a spacious open plan style living/dining area (40" flat screen TV, DVD, video, CD/radio/iPod dock and wireless broadband access). Two windows to the front have southerly views to Lake Windermere. The kitchen is to the rear, sociably integrated into the main living area so that you can chat whilst meals are being prepared.
Stairs from the hallway lead down to the ground floor where there are three bedrooms - the master double with king-sized bed (TV/DVD/iPod dock) is en-suite with shower, basin and wc and the two other bedrooms are a twin (TV/DVD) and a single (TV/DVD/iPod dock) and the family bathroom with bath (with shower over) basin and wc and heated towel rail. Furnishings are stylish and comfortable with a welcoming holiday feel. Gas central heating and hot water keep you cosy and warm in any season.
Outside: A spacious, furnished private patio to the rear of the house - nicely sheltered and positioned to catch the late afternoon and evening sun, this will be a lovely place to relax with your glass of wine whilst planning your next busy day. Additional use of shared garden areas around the site. Private parking for one car and shared use of site car park. Ambleside village 2 miles.
