Why visit the Lake District ….

Where do we begin, the Lake District really does have something for everyone … Mountains, Lakes, Stunning Scenery, Culture, Castles, museums, Watersports, Spas and great entertainment.

Activities
Think of the Lake District and you think of beautiful countryside but it’s much more than that … You can jump on a mountain bike and head off-road exploring places you would never get to. Enjoy a trip on one of the many Lakes in the Lake District whether that’s by a rowing boat, a self-drive motor boat or a steamer. It may be that water sports is your thing? Then you can try canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding and much more at various centres across the Lake District. 

 

History
William Wordsworth may be one of the most famous poets to come from the Lake District, so why not visit his birthplace, home and even burial spot. Not far out of the Lake District You can follow the footsteps of the romans by visiting Hadrians Wall. Visit some of Lake District historic House’s Holker Hall, Sizergh Castle, Wray Castle and Dalemain House and explore their gardens. You could just explore the Lake District as this was an inspiration to a host of people; Wordsworth, Ruskin, Beatrix Potter. 

Relax
If all the sounds too energetic or if you simply want to wind down after a hard day participating in one of Cumbria’s activities then enjoy a pampering session at one of the many spas. There are many charming hotels that serve delicious afternoon teas that have fantastic lakeside view, you may want to experience one of amazing restaurants in the Lake District. It could be shopping is your idea of the perfect therapy to relax, then with many independent shops we are sure you will find your perfect remedy.

Scenery
From the top of Englands highest mountain Scafell Pike the views are fantastic, don’t just take our word for it come and see for yourself Helvellyn, Skiddaw, Catbells and the Langdale Pikes are just a few other peaks from where you would have to travel the world to rival the beauty of the views across our lakes and valleys.

For the Children
When you come away for a family holiday one of the most important things is keeping the children happy. Well the Lake District is perfect for this … You can relax at the World Beatrix Potter where Beatrix Potter’s books are brought to life. Or for a bit of adventure why not try Go Ape in Grizedale or Whinlatter Forests. This high wire adventure is not for the faint hearted but will be loved by the older children as well as the adults in your party.
