Steeped in history this charmingly quaint cottage is one of the oldest properties in the area. If you are looking for a central location within easy travelling distance of all of the National Park this cottage will surely fit the bill. It sits prominently just above the road right in the middle of Troutbeck Bridge - the village pub is just along the road and buses stop just outside if you don't want to use the car.
The cottage itself oozes character - even the local planning officer was amazed when he saw the beams, one of which he says is the biggest fireplace beam he has ever seen. Those of you who wish to tour the area will find plenty of routes to enjoy - with Bowness in one direction, Ambleside in the other and the road over Kirkstone Pass starting just behind the cottage. There are walks too to Troutbeck up the valley and the beautiful Holehird Gardens about half a mile away where you can enjoy the national collection of hydrangeas and beautiful views of the lake.
Accommodation: Parking is to the rear of the cottage from where there is access up steps to the door and into the utility area where you can store your outdoor gear. The sizeable but cosy sitting room is delightfully characteristic with lovely old beams, deep set windows and original period doorways (TV, DVD, video, mini hi-fi, fireplace with multi-fuel stove). Fitted dining kitchen in natural woods.
A small 'den come office' (free wireless broadband) is to the left of the stairs - ancient stone steps worn hollow with time - which lead to the two bedrooms on the first floor - one double and one twin. Neat bathroom (bath with electric shower over, basin) and separate wc.
The cottage has some fitted carpets, some original Lakeland stone floors, off peak storage heating and a 'real' fire. It is complemented by comfortable modern style furnishings in the living room whilst the bedrooms are more traditional.
Outside: Patio with garden furniture adjacent to the entrance, and porchway off the lounge leads to a small enclosed garden. Narrow access off the main road to private rear parking for one car.
