Getting to High Bield is something of an adventure along a half mile gated track that skirts the hillside out of Hartsop (bring a good torch if arriving in the dark) but the effort is worth it for the lake and mountain views and the isolated location. Indeed the owners of High Bield have undertaken a mammoth task renovating and updating their much loved family property.

This detached house was built in the 1920s by an artist who included a studio upstairs to make the most of the light and views over Brotherswater and Ullswater. Now fully upgraded it offers real comfort with a hard to find 'away from it all' feel and yet is truly in the heart of some of the finest mountain scenery in the Lake District.

You can walk from the door to the High Street Ridge and to beautiful Hayeswater, or even over to the Kentmere fells. Place Fell, St. Sunday Crag, Fairfield and Red Screes lie to the west side of the valley. This is a place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. The property has been thoughtfully prepared for holiday living and is sure to be very popular.

Accommodation: Front door entrance into a newly built sun porch which catches all the sun and looks out over Brotherswater and Hartsop Dodd. A glazed door leads to the dining area, which also takes in this spectacular view, and the newly fitted kitchen. Walk-in utility room with laundry facilities. Attractive sitting room with fine views (Sky TV, DVD player and log burner). There are two good double bedrooms on the ground floor, one with a king-sized bed and one with a double bed, and a new bathroom with large shower, basin and wc.

Upstairs you will find three further bedrooms - two generous singles, and an interestingly shaped twin that was formerly the 'studio'. Second bathroom with bath, basin and wc. Good distant views from all the main windows.

The property is comfortable, newly decorated and equipped throughout with solid floors and rugs complementing the somewhat minimalist look. The property is 'all electric'. Period features have been retained where possible.

Outside: The fellside setting is quite remarkable with a steeply set rocky garden area and steps through the bushes - a bit wild and children will need to be supervised! Parking for two or three cars in the drive or garage. Nearest pub at Brotherswater, local shop/post office and another pub at Patterdale.

Please Note: The half-mile bumpy unmade track from the village to the house may not be suitable for low vehicles.
