A Message from the Owners
"The garden at High Beckside is semi-wild, carpeted with double snowdrops followed by daffodils in the spring. The picnic table in the old orchard, looks in a Southerly direction over the beck towards Hartsop, Dodd and Dovedale.
Varieties of birds visit the garden and look out for red squirrels in the morning and badgers in the evening.
The house retains its original oak beams and spice cupboard. All the rooms have views overlooking the fells.
Visit Crookabeck angora goat farm and mohair farm shop."

Property Location

The many character features include a spice cupboard in the living room with adjacent fire window, an open fire, old beams and thick stone walls. An adjoining wool loft, which once had a spinning gallery outside, is reached up stone steps and offers additional sleeping for two (twin beds) with open beamed ceiling, magnificent views and en-suite shower room.

Accommodation: Original oak panelled entrance hall with old oak door into the 'down house' or dairy - now a slate floored boiler room (with downstairs wc), which is ideal as a drying room or bike store. Separate laundry room. Cosy living/dining area with well equipped open plan kitchen with Lakeland stone worktops (open fire, TV, DVD, video).

The living/dining area, stairs and landing have Herdwick wool carpets, made from the wool of the local Herdwick sheep which graze the surrounding fells. There are three bedrooms in the main part of the house - one double, a twin and a single. The family bathroom has bath with shower over and basin, and there is a separate wc. For larger parties or those who just wish to have additional space, the fourth bedroom is a twin located in the adjoining 'wool loft'. This 'away-from-it-all' en-suite bedroom is a real feature of the property (shower, basin and wc).

This is a very traditional, cosy and comfortable farmhouse - personal touches reflect the owner's interest in the countryside - local Herdwick wool rugs/throws are throughout the house, depicting the colours of the landscape, and original paintings and prints by local artists hang in the house. The peaceful feeling of this old world property is much appreciated by its many visitors throughout the year.

Outside: There is a large garden as described above and there is ample parking for two/three cars.

Please note: see prices for extra charges for use of the wool loft.
