Greenside House, built circa 1840, is a beautifully restored three storey Grade II listed Georgian Townhouse located within the town's conservation area. This elegant period property has classic features of the era with slate and exposed timber floors, oak beams and an impressive period staircase. There are some wonderful views from the top floor of the house to the northwestern fells, Skiddaw, Blencathra and even a glimpse of Derwentwater.
Keswick town centre is only a two minute stroll away offering a wealth of excellent shops, restaurants, pubs, a cinema, and the award-winning Theatre by the Lake with its year round live performances. Cruises and boat hire can be enjoyed on Derwentwater, whilst the surrounding mountains such as Skiddaw and Latrigg provide some of the finest walks in Lakeland, and low level walks can still be enjoyed for the less active - all this without needing to use the car.
Accommodation: Entrance through cobbled courtyard into spacious hallway where there is room to hang coats. Door leading off entrance hall into very well equipped kitchen with bespoke handmade units in a period country house style, with elm and slate worktops, oak beams from Lowther Castle, Belfast sink, gas range master cooker and original slate floor. A further door off the hallway leads to a formal dining room with log burning stove.
Stairs to the first floor where you will find the superb sitting room with two wonderful Georgian windows, which let in a huge amount of light and frame the space, quality furnishings, flat screen TV, DVD, hi-fi and log burning stove. Also on this floor is the first bedroom suite with double bed, some views towards the western fells, and luxury bathroom with traditional claw-foot bath, power shower over having two different heads, wc and basin.
Stairs lead to a third floor where you will find the master suite with super king-size bed (6ft wide or can be made-up as two single beds - please request at time of booking), far reaching fell views, and luxury shower room with large corner shower, wc and basin.
All the important components of this fine residence have been preserved and the level of appointment and general ambience is exceptional, with attention to detail being second to none - enabling you to enjoy a great holiday in any season. Furnishings are stylish and comfortable with co-ordinating colour schemes throughout. Exposed timber and slate floors, some fitted carpets and gas central heating. Welcome Pack provided on arrival.
Outside: Cobbled courtyard with garden furniture - an ideal spot to take in the atmosphere with a glass of wine! Parking for two cars in designated spaces beyond the courtyard.
N.B. Free use of wireless broadband (<1MBps) via a local FON hotspot has been arranged, although this facility cannot be guaranteed. Coverage within the house varies due to the thick stone walls.
