Grasmere and Rydal

Grasmere is surely one of the most beautiful of Lakeland's villages - set in the heart of the National Park and visited by tourists from all over the world.

Wordsworth lived here and is buried in the churchyard. The quaint village centre has a village green and is very picturesque with a collection of old buildings and charming shops.

The surrounding lake and mountain scenery is quite beautiful at all times of the year. Grasmere and Rydal are favourites with walkers, photographers and country lovers who want to enjoy the true atmosphere of a Lake District holiday.

Rydal is a tiny hamlet mid-way between Grasmere and Ambleside in the beautiful Rothay Valley and lies alongside Rydal Water. Wordsworth lived here for thirty-seven years at Rydal Mount. Some of the best walking in the lakes is from this village.
