A Message from the Owner
|
||
| "You will see from the selection of comments from the Visitors' Book that folk come back to Fern Ghyll so many times they become part of the place. Their children grow up knowing this special apartment and it has been the setting for many family birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations. It can't just be the ginger cake or the welcome pack. It may be the constant attention to detail and the fact that Judith and Emma clean and prepare the apartment each week with loving care. | ||
| We love living in Ambleside and find that 'keeping our eye' on the property is a pleasure rather than a chore. Friday mornings are great - our visitors always leave the place in good order and we enjoy a couple of hours up at the Falls as much as anyone. | ||
| The latest perk for Fern Ghyll visitors is a discount of 10% at Shinglers - in any department - a chance to buy the games you've had such fun with on your holidays!" | ||

The
Falls |
||
| In a pretty situation on the edge of Ambleside, very close to the tumbling waters of Stock Ghyll are the properties known as The Falls. These delightful holiday properties have been imaginatively created from the old stone Bobbin Mill, which was used in the mid-Victorian times to make wooden bobbins for the Lancashire cotton industry. The old buildings, now renovated, and with some sympathetic new additions will give you an excellent base for your Lakeland holiday. | ||
| Each property is equipped to a high standard offering a restful base to return to at the end of a busy day. The gentle light dappling through the trees and the background sound of Stock Ghyll Beck add to the pleasant atmosphere of this Lakeland setting. Ambleside is within a ten minute walk down the hill with its fine selection of shops and places to eat. We are delighted to offer several properties at this location (see Refs. 1067 to 1078 inclusive and Ref. 1156). | ||
Guests are provided with a DVD/video club card for local use. The owner personally prepares Fern Ghyll and provides a welcome pack, with great attention to detail, along with many other personal touches.
Accommodation: This ground floor apartment is reached via a few steps from its own parking area. Once inside the accommodation is all on one level and would be ideal for those who wish to avoid the use of stairs. The hall leads through to the large sitting/dining room (flatscreen satellite TV, DVD, video). French windows give access to the outside area. Modern fitted kitchen.
There are three bedrooms - one double room with king-size bed (radio and TV) and en-suite facilities (bath, shower, basin, bidet and wc); one twin room (with radio) and one single room. Second bathroom has a shower, basin and wc. Fitted carpets throughout, double glazing, gas central heating.
The corner situation of Fern Ghyll means that additional west-facing windows benefit from afternoon and evening light together with views of the hills. Furnishings and décor throughout have been carefully selected to ensure a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The ambience is enhanced by individually hand-crafted stencil work carried out by a local artist. The owner is constantly refurbishing and updating facilities.
Outside: To the rear and side of the property there are attractive areas for sitting out. At the front there is a covered private porch area with a garden bench and a store where one could house a couple of bikes. Garden furniture is provided.
