Certainly one of the most charming cottages we have found, Elind takes its name from one of the pastures that adjoin the property. The setting is idyllic - the cottage having been created from part of a Grade II listed Lakeland barn C1708, nestling amongst a cluster of picturesque buildings (formerly a farm) and next door to The Garth (see Property Ref. 4003).

Whatever your reason for a visit, whether for a romantic holiday or a stay with friends or family, you will be delighted by the location - Blencathra, just to the west, offers some of the finest fell walks in Lakeland including the challenging Sharp Edge; there are easy rambles to be enjoyed - a walk to the village pub and back - and many opportunities for touring to all parts of the Lake District.

A ten minute drive to Keswick brings you to interesting local shopping, the Theatre by the Lake, cruises on beautiful Derwentwater and much more. Alternatively you could drive the few miles over to beautiful Ullswater Lake for steamer cruises, boat hire and wonderful walking. The owners live on site and will make you welcome whilst leaving you undisturbed to enjoy your stay.

Accommodation: This cottage has been carefully and sympathetically restored and designed with every thought for your holiday comfort. Ground floor entrance into the hallway. Stairs lead to the beautiful open plan sitting/dining oak kitchen, which takes up all of the upper floor of the cottage (living flame gas log burner, TV, satellite with basic package, DVD, video, CD/radio/cassette). The cruck beams and angled roof lines have been retained and cleverly incorporated into a most comfortable interior design.

There are two bedrooms downstairs - one double with king-sized bed, and a twin. Family bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and wc. Useful separate wc with hand basin.

Furnishings throughout are stylish with great attention to detail and colour schemes. Fitted carpets throughout. Oil central heating.

Outside: Useful separate laundry/drying room accessed under the covered porch. Neat rear garden with picnic table and lovely views across neighbouring pastures to the fells beyond. Ample parking for one or two cars. Secure bike storage by arrangement. Excellent shared games room has table tennis, mini pool table and table football. There are four good pubs in the area including the village pub at Mungrisdale (2 miles). Together with the owners' farmhouse and small camping barn, Elind and The Garth complete a delightful courtyard.
