You really can't get much nearer to the heart of the Lake District than this delightful and newly renovated character cottage, which is sure to be very popular. Beautiful Rydal Water is just across the road and the footbridge leads you over to the far shore of the River Rothay and then onto the Rydal Round footpaths up to Rydal Caves and Loughrigg Terrace. Loughrigg Fell and the Fairfield Horseshoe can be done from the door and there are many delightful valley rambles in the immediate area. Wordsworth lived just up the road taking much of his inspiration from the surrounding area and the property actually borders Dora's Field with its riot of Spring daffodils.
Accommodation: This topsy-turvy cottage is thought to date back to the 17th century when it was formerly the coach house for the private residence known as Ivy Cottage and which later became the Glen Rothay Inn. Its rather quirky interior and interesting layout retains fine character features with an abundance of beams and old oak lintels complemented by new bathrooms, kitchen and central heating.
Front door entrance into downstairs hallway...plenty of room to de-camp and hang up your outdoor gear. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor - a good sized single to the left and two further bedrooms (one a double with king-size bed and the other a twin). These two rooms can be interconnected as a family 'suite' or alternatively used separately with the twin room having its own outside entrance and en-suite shower room. Family bathroom (bath with shower over, basin and wc).
Upstairs you arrive in the spacious living room with its wealth of beams, log burner (TV with Freeview, DVD). There is a separate dining area reached down a few steps and this connects with the newly fitted kitchen giving you ample space for family meals and relaxing. Door to patio from dining area. A further en-suite double bedroom with king-size bed is also on this floor (bath, separate large shower, basin and wc).
The property has been newly decorated and furnished throughout with fitted carpets and has lots of character charm.
Outside: Parking at the property for two/three cars. Patio area off the dining room. The property is tucked away in a corner of the Glen Rothay Hotel grounds being screened by tall shrubs and conifers but handy for bar and restaurant facilities and the cottage comes with the added attraction of extra services which you can enjoy during your stay.
One dog accepted * non-smokers please * duvets/beds made up for arrival * gas hob/electric oven * dishwasher * microwave * fridge * freezer * auto washer/dryer * gas central heating and hot water * all fuel included * logs for fire charged extra as used * towels available - please order * travel cot and high chair available - please order * discount vouchers provided for the Glen Rothay pub next door * FREE breakfast included on your day of departure/please book during your stay.
